Questions 7, 9, & 15 for LMMC 🤗
7: Where did the title come from?
It was always going to be something about being 'morally confused', but I wanted a twist on it. When we talk about homosexuality, being queer etc, a lot of people automatically associate it with poor morals, but I wanted it to be a play on that, like Louis is morally confused in the fact that he morally confused because he was thinking he is broken or bent, or there was something wrong with him. In the end, I went the very obvious route. Legally Married (because that's what they were to the world, even though they weren't!) Morally Confused (because he was in the very literal sense). And in the end, I liked the alliteration and the cadence of it. ₃
9: Were there any alternate versions of this fic?
No. 😂 It lived in my head for a little while, where Louis' character was solid, but I didn't know how to bring Harry into his life, but that was maybe only a day or two before I landed on the wit-pro scenario. From there, it was obvious to me that it should be in a house that would rival Susan's house from Desperate Housewives, with the whole Stepford vibe. Hence, the birth of Caprice! And, 0.0002 seconds later, I had images of the neighbourhood barbecue, and especially Harry emerging from the pool, dripping wet. 🥵
15: What did you learn from writing this fic?
To trust my instincts and write what I think is funny and what I would want to read. This was my first attempt at comedy, everything else before the LMMC AU was all very serious because I thought that's what people wanted. This was the first fic I wrote entirely for myself, and I just posted it on a whim because it was finished and just sitting there and I thought 'why not?'. But, I was secretly shitting myself and I was on standby, ready to pull it down as soon as someone made a complaint about it. I honestly thought people might be offended by Louis' attitude early in the fic (and even now it's become an ongoing joke-- 'God, this is the gayest thing I have ever done'!) and I'm waiting for someone to complain because they don't 'get' my sense of humour.
But yes, waffling aside 😅 it was definitely to trust my gut more.
Thank you for asking these questions about Legally Married, Morally Confused! And I'm sorry the response took so long- I started writing it yesterday during a break, but then I've been non-stop every since and I've only sat down tonight at 8:20pm and finally pulled my laptop out!
If anyone else has read this far and wants to ask a question of thier own, the questions are from this post here 🥰
