There's a lot going on in this week's Lore Olympus.

There is a warning on the site for mentions of sexual assault, so consider yourself warned for this post as well.

We begin with the Purple Prick (the younger one) paying a visit to the mortal he blessed cursed with divination abilities. She can see the future, but no one believes her.

That second part means anyone that might ask about her prophesies magically disbelieves her. The only one who does is the asshole that gave her the ability in the first place.

The modern phrasing Apollo uses is flat-out creepy, and just goes to show how much he wants to slam the breaks on any further truth on him getting out.

I appreciate that Persephone came to help Hera ASAP. I'm also glad that Hera is opening up to Persephone as someone she can confide in. It is by no means easy, but knowing that Persephone understands is a huge help.

Hera was terrified to open up to Persephone in the past, but I think Hestia is helping her as well. Persephone has a good support group, and now Hera is building one too.

This explanation of what happened to Hera is so raw.... it's not just the physical aspect of the SA, but the emotional confusion as well. The brain, heart, and body don't always play nice together, and SA can ABSOLUTELY make this worse.

And here comes Persephone with the support! She doesn't even hesitate.

A lot of the explanation Persephone is giving her sounds like stuff she would have learned from Chiron in therapy. The words that are helping her to heal are what she is now sharing with Hera.

Should Hera seek out therapy as well? Absolutely! But she needs to be ready for it because it involves a LOT of unpacking of trauma. She's on the right track now, and she has the support.

THIS. THIS RIGHT HERE.

This is what SA survivors need! They don't need judgement. They need love, care, and people to believe them.

Hades bonding with Little Grape Boy is adorable! Oh, he did his hair too? I think he did a great job of it, and I think Persephone will be impressed.....even if Dionysos himself isn't.

And here is our mystery child deity at last! For the record, I ran the Greek through Google Translate (yeah, yeah, I know, not always the best way) and got the spelling shown above.

THE WAY I GASPED AND THREW MY PHONE ACROSS THE ROOM

Theory Time

So like- I don't make posts very often, if at all, and this will just likely get swept up in a sea of other posts but-- this Lore Olympus update got me thinking... So far Rachel has taken the time to show us that all the key 12 Olympians have been at least named and exist- save Dionysus. Those that know his myths know that he at least has his foundations set but really it's just a little reference... unless it's not.

As of right now, some of the OG mythos references that have come up and been more focused on than others are the infancy of Zeus and Semele's relationship, Persephone's smothered upbringing, Hades' traumatic upbringing, his sterility, and his apparent want to have children (Persephone may have expressed the same in the past but if so I can't recall it right this second).

Now hear me out, all of these could be unconnected and just serve as character defining events and a little wink to a God that isn't around yet, but part of me wants to connect them as foreshadowing and a plot basis when I consider how the Semele myth usually ends... yes the poor girl getting vaporized at the sight of raw Zeus and the wack ass leg birth, but also Dionysus' fostering for his own protection.

In the original mythos Hera wants baby Dionysus dead because he's a bastard son of Zeus, yadda yadda... but LO Hera seems a little less murdery- and this seems like maybe- more of a scandal that Zeus would want to cover up? Well regardless of what the why could be- the outcome from there is typically a toss up depending on the storyteller, Dionysus in some cases is raised by wild animals, in others it's a mortal couple, but in some... He's given to Persephone... Hell, in some cases he's even mixed in with another minor God, Zagreus, who in some of his mythology is characterized as the son of Hades and Persephone.

It's not a super solid foundation but like it has enough narrative support to be a possible outcome- And maybe if Hades and Persephone can't have their own children they could happily adopt once their current issues are squashed...

Lore Olympus this week has such a mood whiplash, and Persephone isn't even involved!

We start off with our little grape boy, Dionysos! He was asleep at daycare until he overheard the staff talking about Persephone going missing.

I don't know what's shining, but he tries to show it to the staff, only to be ignored. (Yeah, real smart, ignoring your charges....)

Not one to be deterred, Dionysos sets off on his own little adventure.

Um.... when did he get a hold of Persephone's two-headed foal? And why is it letting him ride it? Like, this is the first time we're seeing these 2 interacting with one another. Are we going to get any flashbacks to them meeting one another?

Our mini hero reaches the door (to Tartarus?), pondering how to open it.

His solution? Chug an entire bottle of wine and slither under the door like a snake. Our grape gremlin is still under age, but already imbibing!

The scene shifts, and we find Hades recalling the last few things that happened with the dream dive. Not only does he realize he's in child form, but that he's got none of the physical scars he received from Kronos.....yet....

Kronos appears, verbally abusing Hades like he used to. He seeks to crush what confidence and mental strength Hades has acquired since he escaped. It almost works...

...until Kronos mentions Persephone. Hades is confident in Persephone's relationship with him, and he refuses to let Kronos steer him astray on that subject.

Even if Kronos tortures him again, Hades is willing to ensure it for Persephone's safety.

Just when Hades seemingly gets away from Kronos, he spots someone else. It's Melinoe, though Hades doesn't know that. The chase begins!

Will Hades catch up and save her? Or is this a trap?

There's a lot of tension in this week's Lore Olympus chapter, so let's get to it...

Apollo, you are a DELUSIONAL FUCK NUGGET!

You might have the mortals fooled with all your good deeds and gifts, (And, outside of the Lore Olympus iteration, he's probably a somewhat decent dude), but you are a PIECE OF SHIT! All of your so-called good deeds don't excuse shady & rapey shit that you've done.

Say, isn't that green nymph in the 'done a lot for the community' shot the same one that was just hurrying her friend away from him a couple of chapters ago? I believe she whispered something to the degree of "Did you hear about what he did to Daphne?" (Or something like that.)

He lied to his sister's face. I want to say that I'm shocked, but I'm not.

Artemis really should have followed through and tossed his ass. The bruises certainly would've complemented the black eye from Hermes perfectly.

Therapy is exhausting. Re-opening old wounds with the intent to heal them properly is painful. Starting over is agonizing.

Best analogy is ripping the bandage off a dirty wound and cleaning with alcohol. Hurts like he'll, but will eventually have a better result.

Demeter wanted to replicate the relationship she had with Metis through Persephone. Given the grim circumstances of the Titanomachy, Demeter didn't get the best example of how to raise a child. But, like real-world mortals, parents inevitably raise their children for a world that no longer exists.

Demeter grew up having to be cautious with an unstable Kronos ruling the world. Persephone was born into a world without the need for that fear. There's the existential jealousy of the younger generation because their lives are easier.

But....isn't that the point of the previous generation's efforts?

Good, good, a little bit of progress here.

Admitting you were wrong to do what you did is critical.

It's often said that parents will hurt their kids (physically, mentally, and/or emotionally) to try putting them on the right path in life. More often than not, this does more harm than good in the long run.

As with these two, Demeter forced so much of her ways on Persephone that rather than bringing them closer, it drove them apart. That's going to take a lot of therapy and self-work to fix.

PFFT!!! AHAHAHA!! GO, DIONYSUS, GOOOOO!!!

....and back to this asshole. Who tf is he asking for help from?

When I first saw Thanatos putting around on his phone, I thought he was just bored, but here, he's legit worried about the sudden heavy influx of work flowing into his workqueue.

Is this Apollo's doing? Or is this the beginning of the Trojan War? Achilles was still a spud the last time we saw him. However, we don't know exactly how time flows between Olympus and the Mortal realm, so..... maybe he's a big boy now?

I appreciate that Hecate called off the party when she saw that shit wasn't right.

Hades being calm and comforting here is a big plus.

And last, but certainly not least, Dionysos being an absolute gremlin in every shot!

I ESPECIALLY dig the horror movie reference in the sixth image.
