The best fictional men are the ones that allow themselves to be rescued by a pretty girl that could fight god and win and just. Stare at her. Blushing. In love. Because they're just like "wow. She is so strong and so beautiful I must be her wife."

And rather than being salty about it or trying to one-up her they just help her in her time of need and always try to humbly return the favour and be her ally. So rather than having the thought process of "ugh I can't believe a girl saved me :/" it's "wow I can't believe such a strong and pretty girl was willing to use her power to help me!" (The right line of thinking tbh)

There can be a Hades x Persephone story without excluding Persephone's kidnapping but not having her fall in love with him within 6 months. That's still mess up. I want slow burn Persades.

People who take the kidnapping of Persephone literally are tiresome.

Myths already served, beyond explaining certain phenomena of our world, to illustrate morals, messages or situations of everyday life (which obviously corresponded to the customs of the time).

And the "kidnapping" of Persephone, well, that's rather reminiscent of the husband who, in quotes, snatches his betrothed from her family to make her his wife...

Especially since Hades, in the myth, is never singled out as the problem. He even followed tradition by going to ask Persephone's father, Zeus, for her hand in marriage.

But precisely, in the myth, Zeus is more often portrayed as the villain of the story because he allowed the union without the consent of the mother Demeter.

The real problematic figure in the myth of Hades and Persephone is literally Zeus. Not Hades, who in fact simply followed the general tradition.

And once again, the kidnapping is just an exaggerated representation of the Greek tradition of the time.

That's why it's important to know how to place myths in their context - at least the most well-known story of which we have the most traces, because I remind you that myths evolved depending on the era and society - before placing the modern interpretation of the abusive Hades towards Persephone.

In reality, when you look at the sources, in the older versions, Hades and Persephone were always a very harmonious couple with equally divided power. And, in fact, Persephone was sometimes even more feared by mortals than Hades.

It is therefore logical to continue to portray them in this way even today. Insulting people who write romance novels about this couple is ridiculous.

But I'm almost certain that despite my explanation, I'm going to get insulted because I'm defending a "kidnapper" and "abusive relationships".
