Bernard has been dating Tim for months, he knows he's Robin and has been waiting patiently for Tim to bring it up. One day Bernard believes he saw Tim in a compromising position with kon (Tim's not actually cheating Bernard just thinks that)(probably change this to bernard buckling under the weight of his emotions regarding, well everything, silently suffering months). Bernard tries to confront Tim but he's tired from a mission and miscommunication combined with two already sleep deprived, on edge, emotional individuals turns into a huge argument.
Bernard leaves Tim's apartment planning to go to his to blow off steam but ends up crying in an alley. He loses consciousness suddenly and wakes up on a plane or in a compound, kidnapped of course, by who? The LOA
Meanwhile Tim is sleeping fitfully trying to figure wtf happened and deciding to call Bernard in the morning (he won't get to :))
Bernard is still upset about everything else but now he's also been kidnapped and of course it goes back to Tim. So as soon as he's had 2 seconds to wake up and process whatever bullshit Ra's had to say about Tim for a moment Bernard just starts going off.
Ranting about Tim about how he already knew who he was about how he's felt the last few months just fully dumps everything off his chest because he doesn't have much incriminating about Tim to say that the guy doesn't already know if he's gonna die might aswell say everything he has to say.
Once he finally calms down he sits there breathing hard, red in the face, trying not to cry and Ra's, honestly a little stunned though you'd never realize it, has an idea. Bernard fits the profile of the kind people he recruits, he's all alone. He did a background check on the boy and he doesn't even have a cat to take care of, Tim was really his only meaningful connection. But that's gone now, there's nothing to fill the void in Bernard Dowd's chest.
Suddenly Bernard is untied and when he looks up Ra's is smiling, he forgives his outburst and makes Bernard an offer. Bernard's not stupid and he's gone through this before, he's drilled himself on not falling into this kind of trap again. Ra's knows that too, but he's an arrogant old man so he believes himself prepared for the storm that is Bernard dowd.
Bernard stands, steps forward, and kneels. He asks when they will begin? Ra's smiles wider at the stone hard determination on the boys face. Bernard has been chosen, only rather than worship, he will tear them down, one way or another. Not for Tim, but for himself.
