I'll be at #howlercon on Sunday, who else will be there?
If someone still needs a room I have one at the convention rate that I have to cancel tomorrow.
Let me know if you're going? Maybe we can have a #sterek meetup at lobbycon!?
Gallifrey One Ribbons and the Bob May Charity Auction
The Bob May Charity Auction will have a ribbon chain to bid on this year, and it is going to be amazing! If you would like to donate your ribbon(s) to the chain, you will receive one from me (or my helpers) in return that says Proud Donor to the 2014 Bob May Charity Auction Ribbon Chain.
I will at the very least have a sign on me as my "cosplay" to advertise the ribbons, and I will most likely be in my femme11 cosplay at least one day. (It is my avatar. My daughter is my TARDIS). My daughter will be trading them also, as will a friend of mine who will be in her "Empty Child" nurse w/gasmask cosplay at some point.
This year the charity is personal to the Gallifrey One family. Here is the text from the official website:
This year, for our charity auction, we’ve made the decision to go a bit more personal, due to a recent tragedy in our own family. On the evening of September 9, 2013, one of our own was killed in a horrific accident caused by a drunk driver; Aimee Hoff, a 23-year-old member of our Operations staff, a young woman who has grown up with our convention (her father is Charlie Hoff, the head of our technical services department), was among the fatalities. This sudden and tragic loss silenced a young woman who was dedicated to theatre and music, and our entire staff has mourned her loss. To that end, Gallifrey One will be supporting the Aimee Hoff Memorial Scholarship Fund, which has been established at Newbury Park High School in Newbury Park, California where she went to school. The fund will be set up to provide an annual scholarship to graduating seniors pursuing a college degree in the music field; as music was Aimee’s passion, we hope it will help continue her legacy and provide something positive out of this tragic event.
The goal is to make a one-of-a-kind chain of unique ribbons for people to bid on. If you have a ribbon that you are giving out only to *insert criteria here* or only for *insert requirements here*, then we most definitely want your ribbon! If you have more than one ribbon, please consider donating one of each. And make sure you swing by the Auction to bid on this amazing ribbon chain that you helped create. Last year's ribbon was about 12 feet long-- please help us blow that outta the water this year!
You can only get a "Proud Donor" ribbon if you've donated, so be a part of this elite group and help us make this the best donation ever!
