so it turns out the right-wing position on this (from a GBNews fan in the UK, so...yeah) is that murder is the natural conclusion of "cancel culture", and by extension any and all left-wing policy positions. gave up on trying to explain that the idea he was trying to articulate is called "horseshoe theory", but it's looking likely that the rhetoric may approach the "summary imprisonment of [insert scapegoated minority here]" variant that came up briefly in the wake of Sandy Hook. and i understand with the ICE shit that may not seem like a substantial variation from business-as-usual for the current administration, but we're allowed to be concerned about what kind of precedents are being set within the legal system as well as in its circumvention.
