Ambition

Not only did I change my major but I also started volunteering at our local zoo here in San Diego. I get to spend most of my time on a variety of different species including everything from reptiles, mammals, birds to amphibians. The mammals are my favorite because they're usually quite friendly and cute and cuddly especially the younger ones.

I've been volunteering as many hours as my school studies and homework permit me too which is about 25 hours a week, and I'm pretty exhausted. However; the overall experience is worth every ounce of lost sleep. It's everything I imagined it would be and so much more.  Spending all this time at the zoo is giving me hands on experience and I'm learning a great deal about the proper care all animals both great and small require, their sanitary needs and everything else that comes with it.

Today I received great news that I need to share with you! My boss at the zoo asked me to come into his office and told me I was doing a fantastic job.  He wants to give me a paying job as a nutritional assistant, which basically means my job requirements are to provide healthy diets to all of the animals in the petting zoo!
