Every fall I start to see the blue light of winter appearing through the overcast days. Brown tones of leaves and weeds scurry around like memories of past seasons. Everything turns a bit somber and that’s ok because hibernation is a restful time. // I bought a piece of this estate without knowing it. Our back four and half acres used to be owned by the Butterfield’s who were the local growers for the area. This shot is in one of their greenhouses out near Lake Minnetonka. The old catalog was sitting on the desk in the adjacent greenhouse office. It was like someone got up and walked away. // These old greenhouses have been torn down now and that’s probably for the best. The glass was falling in on us and the space was filled with broken glass shards everywhere. It reminded me of another greenhouse I fell in love with - Rosacker’s up in Northeast Minneapolis. The photos are all that remain.
