Say hello to our little friend, the Sennheiser MKH 416! We were previously using the Rode NTG2 so we were excited for the upgrade!

Among the skills that must be mentioned is the bag drop. Often audio pros cannot safely ride in a vehicle and stay out of the shot. A common solution is to guess at the levels, pull the trigger and drop the bag in the car. This means that anything you get is very zen. This technique is not without its problems and things don't always come out 100% perfect, but since the advent of the GoPro, talent driven cars have become a regular thing. It was a hoot working with the Rockets Power Dancers. Don McGill Toyota is doing amazing things with this campaign. More to come! Produced by Moffett Productions, this Social Media campaign was shot with two Sony FS7 and some GoPros. Location audio utilized Sound Devices 633 and Lectrosonics wireless. Despite all my talks of dropping everything here and trying to get my foot in the door in Hollywood as a sound designer... I don't think I'll be able to leave the Toronto film/TV industry so easily. I think I just miss indie filmmaking. I miss being able to get together with a small crew - with friends - brainstorming ideas, making sense of them, then going out to shoot some stuff. I miss getting equipment together and learning how things work or work together. And I miss being on a small set with the same kind of people. That includes standing up most of the day with equipment strapped to my back or chest, my arms sore from holding the boom for hours on end. I just wanna create. I've cut too much dialogue lately... recorded too much ADR lately...
(via Wild Audio Interview for October and ALDI)
It's a simple formula, and it still works. Record an interview in the office, and cut the location shots over it. ALDI's Karla Waddleton was wonderful. It was a pleasure to work with October.
