Dream Pop
Dream pop is a genre similar to shoe gaze, atmospheric and featuring sonic textures in combination with pop characteristics. The breathy vocal elements are combined with density from effects that include reverb, echo, tremolo, and chorus. Difficult to decipher the ending of one song and the start of another, walls of sound, and smudging of noise, all are characteristics evident within dream pop. With textures engulfing listeners. Introspectional and existential renewal, within experiential and cathartic moments, are aspects of the escapist mindsets of the lyrics and mystical visions behind musicians that produced this genre.
IDEAS
I find the breathy, indecipherability for vocals to be of influence for sung experiments.
Density and texture develop of layers of reverb, echo, tremolo, and pre-recorded chorus overlapping in recording, I am interested in exploring more. I want to immerse with intros that build up crescendos of sound for the listeners, taking them into a tunnel, within a wall of noise. From there, letting them bask in an escape, for a moment of tranquility and contemplation.
