                        To say that he was the least bit shocked by Tyler’s decision to decline Derek’s offer of help would be an understatement. Tyler in many ways reminded Derek of himself. (there were a lot of differences and for that he was grateful) However, there were a lot of things that Derek could see made the two men very similar. Lack of trust in any other living, breathing being tops on that list. Derek just didn’t have the ability to often even reach out to anyone. But, when he heard about what happened to Tyler (in a moment of humility) Derek couldn’t help but at least offer to help teach him control. Something that being a born wolf Derek happened to hold with a lot of grace. (not that he even liked to think about it like that) Vehemently and almost violently his offer was declined. (not even to his own surprise) HOWEVER, it still stoood. It would be there as long as Tyler didn’t kill another person. (Derek didn’t want that responsibility once something else was after him) He said his farewells and didn’t think about it again. The next time Tyler would need to come to Derek. 

                          ❝Wasn’t expecting you for a social call.❞

The meeting of Elena hadn’t gone exactly as she had expected. What was supposed to be warm words and a first chance into the Gilbert life had slowly been taken out of her hands. If Kat would have been similar to the girl of her past, the tears running down her cheeks would have been true. But, time had proven to be so different with her that now the salty liquid running down her cheeks was just an improvised scene to draw someone in close. And just as she had planned, a familiar victim caught her eyes.

Tyler. The boy she had so flimsily used for her own studies and played her first trick as Elena Gilbert for. What seemed too much like destiny, he was right there, waiting to be fed on with her melodramatic words. Brushing a random stream of water from her face, she shook her head. 

“This is embarrassing,” her voice hummed, hiding the smile under the palm she let a few following fake tears into it. “Please just- just turn around.”

Branching Out

“Okay, Tyler,” she began as she barged in like it was her own dorm room.  “I checked out the theater department and I think underneath the stage might work great for, you know, those nights.  At least until we find a better place.”  With a breath, she smiled with a look that said she wasn’t done just changing topics.  “I figured you wouldn’t go to the club event today on the lawn so I brought you some information.  And look -- art club!”
