Branching Out

All he could do was laugh at her victorious reaction to finally getting her point across. Honestly, it was lucky for him that he had someone like Caroline in his life. She provided the, sometimes, much needed kick in the ass so that he didn’t just glide through college the way that he had done for most of high school. There were areas that he didn’t slack off in, but he didn’t think that anyone had noticed. He was wrong. “I didn’t realize you saw any of that.” He confessed turning his head away from her ever so slightly. His reaction was half bashfulness, and half macho pride as he wouldn’t admit how proud of his work he actually was. This time when he looked at the flier, he actually looked at it, instead of just tossing it aside. “I don’t know,” He laughed, shaking his head at her rhetorical question. “I’m kinda surprised that you didn’t already contact them for me.” He teased, but a moment later, he tilted his head as he asked, “Or did you?”
For a moment, she just gave him a look. “I notice everything. It is why I’m so good at what I do.” His reaction was the reason she had never mentioned it before. Now that it was out in the open and he was going to be in the art club, she could sucker him into helping with decorations for the events in their hometown as well as school. Things were going to change for them this year. They were adults and pushing forward into their futures. She sighed at his assumption. “I’m not the type to cut up your food for you. You’ll have to contact them yourself. I’m just bringing it to your attention.” A guilty pause later, she spoke again. “----But I may have told them to expect you...and signed your name on the interest sheet.”
