Watching @greys-abc and they just had the episode with the enraged, grieving widower who shot people in the hospital. The character development. The confusions. The relationship changes and developments. There were scenes that gave me big #holbyCity vibes especially Dofty vibes among other characters injuries when Fredrick raged through the hospital, though for different reasons. The confusion. Trauma. Drama. Death.
In a side note I'd like to add that I am still gutted how Holby destroyed the relationship, and Lofty character. Once again making Dom a victim, which is old. Dom is a kick ass surgeon but deserves someone to go home to, that someone should have been Lofty. Dofty was a great match, and that scene where they are together, with Fredrick was so emotive.
Happy Pride Month - I may not have liked the ending or the characters together at the end of their time, but the beginning and development was beautiful to witness.
Oh last post about this but there is an episode late-ish on in series 29 where Lofty and Dylan's parts of the episode revolve around Lofty's gullibility and how easily influenced he is, he directly and instantly believes what Dylan says about a "gullible test" almost comically and it takes Dylan's 🤨 face for him to actually think about it and realize it isn't a thing.
I just think it's another important facet of his character that is overlooked particularly by the upstairs show 😥
I hate Holby city for ruining Lofty's character so much, and they did, because in the whole of his run on Casualty he has proven that kindness >>>>> anything else. The times he has shown to people like Connie and Dylan that sometimes it's more important to pay closer attention to patients and hear them out or even help them before just palming them off on social services or the police. He has a great heart, he is also human and yes he's had his moments on Casualty, but nobody lives a life void of mistakes.
He starts life in Robyn's loft and is given a second chance by her, something he extends to his patients and friends practically every episode he's in. He comes across as meek and probably a bit weak but it ties in to being dyspraxic which perhaps not many people know comes with a host of social and emotional issues too!!!! His friends in the ED care about him because he cares about them too.
With Dylan.....oh what a great pair. When Dylan is reintroduced it seems Lofty is the only person to treat him like he treats everyone else - like a human with feelings and although it's obvious they don't understand each other, he still tries to be compassionate.
Yes there is a....poorly judged joke by Lofty made without realizing Dylan is standing right there and it makes me cringe badly because it's the kind of terribly judged mistake probably everyone has made at LEAST once in their life. He thinks he is being funny for half a second until he realizes it isn't and he can't take it back. They reconcile before the episode is over and more friendship moments are to come succeeding it. They don't get each other but for the most part they treat each other well and they support each other and I really like that....I have digressed. (Oh also there is the agency nurse incident which is just straight up not his fault and shook him badly)
In Holby from day 1 he's introduced as really not a great seeming person. If I never watched casualty there's no way I would've liked him in the whole time he was in Holby. They ruined his character and completely erased his dyspraxia in favour of some really rushed and badly written gAy rEpReSenTaTiOn...........
It's fine to be mad about everything hes done in Holby (I am. I hate it and don't consider it canon to Lofty's life because that's how much I hate it) but I wish people could remember him in casualty and everything he stood for particularly in patient storylines wherein if he hadn't been there they would've been ignored and dealt with less compassionately....

I've been inspired to write a Dofty fanfic after all the time. So if some part of you still harbours a piece of Dofty fiction watch this space! If you dispise Dofty, especially Lofty I'd skip this unless you can read with an open mind.
just read something from a few months ago, that Lee Mead said he would not want to return to play Lofty on Holby City or Casualty, but then said he might if a new producer asked him, too. This makes me think he was unhappy of Lofty's character development by the current producers. He did say he thought Dom and Lofty ran its course and wouldn't want to revisit that relationship.
