it doesn't sit right with me that Logan and possibly Matty as well may have known Becky never died
also the whole Tia Wardley thing as well... I wish we could have seen Logan and Matty again either during or after the Becky thing with either Lisa, Betsy, or Carla confronting Logan asking if he knew Becky was still alive
but then again didn't he get his ass kicked for even mentioning Tia 😅
I rewatched the scene from January 2025 with Matty holding Bobby hostage as per Rob's plan and I like to imagine that Rob bringing up 1) him being a neglectful dad to Bobby and 2) God + Mason is what struck nerves in Matty because he seemed proper upset beyond playing the part of a volatile inmate in the hostage situation
so here are my thoughts + long semi-coherent rant in general!
I think those three things would set him off since his own parents were neglectful, he probably thought faith was stupid, and Mason is still a fresh wound because I doubt Matty's dealt with grief before since let's face it, it's inevitable even if you got the tough guy persona
when Matty is sent to solitary and Rob visits him, it caught my eye that he was still upset even out of sight of the guards and Bobby. Maybe he just got himself too worked up for the part or something and has poor coping skills (very likely) Idk but it's interesting
Rob says to him "Cheers Rob! Thanks for having my back!"
and Matty mutters something that sounds like "Right, for doubling my sentence." while fighting the tears again as he looks up and sighs
then Rob leaves and Matty sits down and looks like he's about 0.5 seconds away from crying before the episode ends and that's the last time we see Matty
I'm not trying to make Matty seem like a softie or anything, I think going to a proper prison for once as opposed to overnight jail visits and the STC was a reality check for him and especially facing the potential consequences of that stunt he pulled (whether or not his sentence actually got doubled, who knows) which he probably thought he'd get away maybe put this shock into him that there's no more "fallbacks" and it just shows that much like Mason, there's still someone beneath all that hardcore tough guy stuff
I can't remember if Séamus quit or got axed or what but I really hope that maybe one day we'll see Matty again... considering he was only 18 when he went to prison it's possible even if he did get a more lengthy sentence, there could be a chance he comes back for something entirely new
it kinda sucks analyzing niche characters that had more potential when all the storylines have been finished and moved on from... I really wished during the back-from-the-dead-Becky storyline they would have revisited the Radcliffes or something but alas, we can write that ourselves, it's just disappointing how the potential was there but wasn't used (would have loved to see post-Corriedale Carla or Betsy visit Logan again and ask if he knew all along but also why did NO ONE visit Matty when Logan was ragebaiting them (I do know irl stuff has to do with what characters stay on and such but yeah... the other characters forgot about Matty))
Also didn't they bring their uncle in for questioning shortly after Logan's arrest?? I think it was related to dead-Becky which once again! Frustrates me how during the back-from-the-dead-Becky storyline, they forgot about the Radcliffes aside from like two mentions :') Matty and Logan knew Becky was alive, I'm convinced okay
I do wish information about them was more easily accessible because... I'm honestly too lazy to try and watch 300+ episodes of 2023-2025, I watched all of Matty and Logan's scenes as they only had 25-27 appearances according to the Corrie fandom wiki but I have yet to watch all of Mason's scenes (114 appearances) where we could get more information on the Radcliffe family and I also said 300+ episodes earlier because who knows what other characters know and have said 😅😅😅 things slip through the cracks...
also this is so random but where did they (wikis) get Logan's exact birthday (October 14 2003) from because I for the life of me can't find a mention maybe I'm looking at the wrong episodes or maybe it was a behind the scenes thing
I lowkey haven't covered everything either but it's past 4 AM rn I should definitely get to sleep 😭🤞
I love seeing behind the scenes photos of the Radcliffes (mainly Logan and Matty) because they're kinda scary on screen but then so joyous and kind looking in behind the scenes
it's also the same with Theo and his actor, Theo is hella scary but then his actor from what I've seen is so goofy I love it
Guys I might sound batshit crazy but please continue to hear me out on my Alice = Matty+Logan+Mason's mother theory now that the Roy penpal storyline has evolved 😔
So this Alice is a married woman and now her husband Mal Roper has appeared, punched Roy, and did drugs with Bernie... problematic newcomer already I'd reckon but I suppose I can understand since Mal said that him and Alice have been married thirty years and have had three kids ...
The mention of three kids caught my attention bro
Alice is the mother of a prisoner, we know that much since that's how Roy started talking with her, but the three kids is what's got my brain going again wondering if Alice is the mother of Matty, Logan, and Mason... because that's three right there, two of which are prisoners now and we're only aware of one
I know my theory sounds crazy but anything is possible on Corrie at this point so just bear with me guys
Mal never really talked about his kids to Bernie, whether or not it was because he was drunk/drugged out of his mind or maybe there's some sort of shame in having at least one prisoner for a kid
but if my theory is true then he'd be having one dead lad and two prisoners for kids
Also weren't the Radcliffe's parents neglectful/abusive? (I apologize for my lack of knowledge on them)
Mal even said the three decades of marriage weren't all happy years and unhappy parents can lead to troubled kids
here's another thing I know people will bring up is that Mal's last name is Roper and since he and Alice are married it's likely Alice took on his last name which could debunk the Matty+Logan+Mason's mum theory
HOWEVER let's say she didn't change her last name and her kids got her last name instead of their father's name... so there's still a possibility her last name could be Radcliffe and it passed down to the three we know
And yes this is all a bit of a reach but like I said at this point anything is possible on Corrie so I wouldn't even be surprised despite all the plot holes in this theory
watching early 2025 Corrie and particularly February 4 has caught my attention... I already knew about Logan being at the scene of the Platts house fire (he walks right by everyone) but I then realized Todd said the explosion set off the alarms at Shuttleworth's but Tim points out how no other alarms have gone off...
later on in that episode during the day David finds the door to Shuttleworth's was busted and he finds Logan hiding inside so now I'm questioning if the alarm that had been set off wasn't because of the explosion but rather Logan breaking in during the chaos of the fire and nobody noticed till way later when David found the door
but then again I can't imagine Logan would stay/hide out in the same building as his dead brother for a whole night+day
not having much information about the Radcliffes actually works in my favor a bit because I can give whatever backstory I want like...
Logan turned 18 and the parents left the three so Logan was completely responsible for Matty and Mason but Matty was more self sufficient whereas Mason wasn't so they grew to despise having to take care of him more than they already had
and then in desperate need for money, Logan and Matty accepted Costello's job of mowing down Tia and they swore to never speak of it and never let Mason find out, all that mattered was the large sum of money from it so they could keep a roof over their head
I know Betsy's trying to move on from the Mason stuff now but I'd like to see her visit Matty or Logan again in prison to Idk, make peace? not the right words... I just think in someway it could help with moving on as in like "You can't torment me anymore," or something since she and everyone else was under the belief they killed Blecky
to put it point blank: basically a "fuck you" type visit not "I forgive you" Idk how to explain it???
