The last stage of Logan's life ended up being far different than he ever thought it would be. He had always figured that it would be cut off by the adamantium bullet he always kept on him, that he would be alone and wouldn't be left with any good reason to keep going. He never anticipated having someone to look after or give him a reason to want to try and make the last stretch he had left something worth all the pain he'd suffered up until that point. He was dying and he knew as much. When he had first come to terms with that, he remembered thinking that it couldn't come fast enough and that it was agonising that he had probably a few decades left. Now, though, with Laura sleeping on the seat beside him and Pierce and his team left dead hundreds of miles behind them, he figured it wasn't so bad. Having her there made him realise that if he was going to try to keep himself alive, he might as well mend a few fences while he could. He knew that a few mutants had survived after Weschester, he just hoped that Scott was still one of them. By the time they got there, he could hardly stay on his feet, Laura helping him walk up the front walkway and ringing the doorbell.
