Hey, do you have any info on the philly-specific scientists march? I work at a lab in philly and we're all interested
Not yet, they’re still in the very early organizing stages and haven’t contacted those of us who volunteered to help organize yet.

You're the only person I've seen (outside of myself and a few people i forced to read siasl) use grok in a casual way!
Casual way?

Hello! Although I've really wanted to get into gardening/plants for my whole life, it hasn't really been viable for me until now. I was wondering if you had any ideas on places for a beginner to start. I'm a science major, so I wouldn't shy away from anything more technical. If you could give me some resources to begin with, that would be so helpful, it's all a little overwhelming right now! Thanks in advance!
Libraries/bookstores, forums, gardening clubs, most are pretty open to choose from for a beginner, even if they can be a little overwhelming. It might help to start small though and first try/research on plants you have a particular interest in (if you’re in the uncanny valley of “idk what I like though” then choose either a well-known easy to grow plant species and/or choose something that just pleases your eyes).
Just a basic gardening rulebook (sadly not as easy to find as it sounds) and a few basic plants to start with tends to be where one can begin.
I will say this though as a headsup; there may be a high chance you may kill your first plants (unless you’re really lucky or intuitive- or you somehow got your hands on one of the handful of plants that are nearly indestructible), and that’s ok, one of the first steps in learning about gardening is knowing how to kill a plant intentionally or accidentally lol.
I hope that helps you!

Is it ok to reblog this with commentary because my #1 thought when I drink is “whoa this is what normal people feel like without anxiety”
Absolutely, yeah! And yeah, I feel you on that
Hello! I'm hoping to get some help looking for resources. I have a cat who is, to put it simply, licking himself bald on his tail, legs, and belly. He's quite good at communicating vocally, so he rarely has a need that isn't met, and he's SUPER cuddly and doesn't show any other signs of stress or of distress. I can't figure out what it is but it's worrying me because I can't find any information on it that matches our situation. Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance!
I will reiterate that if you have not talked to your vet, always do so! It’s important to eliminate medical problems before attempting to figure out behavioral courses of self-mutilation behaviors like excessive licking. It might be a food allergy or a skin problem rather than something behavioral. I can’t give you really any help until you’ve eliminated everything you can through a vet, sorry. Excessive licking/fur plucking is a pretty hard one to give advice on from a non-medical perspective.
