i just discovered your blog and i can't explain how much i love it already. one of the only people in the FT fandom whom still love the series, whilst others are shitting on mashima because of bs fights. i can't explain how happy that makes me, knowing there's someone else in the fandom who still loves it with all their heart!! also, you don't dump on lucy like 90% of the fandom either, which i love. i'm sorry i'm saying this in ask, but i can't message you whatsoever ;;

A dunmer and his spell casting

He was four when he for the first time successfully cast a fire spell. He had learned how to make the fire burn at his fingertips long ago but the spells never really ended up quite how he wanted. Either his fingers or the cloth around him caught on fire- on one sad occasion it was his nanny that fell victim to his less than perfect spell casting- and the small errors were beginning to be rather expensive for his family. Especially after accidently burning a rather hideous but apparently very expensive rug. But he hated that rug and it was his father's (was he really his father though? Maybe. Well, he wasn't sure. His mother had many men at her side and he never really dared to ask) favourite so it probably deserved it.
His older brother, the only successful spellsword in the family (to be more precise, the only surviving one), had been instructed to help the little child control this very dangerous form of destruction magic.
Under the brief period it took for the older brother to teach him proper control, more rugs were burned than then matriarch of the family dared to count (None of the incidents could be pinned down to the fire hazardous duo but the family had their suspicions). Even a portion of the kitchen managed to catch ablaze, but in hindsight, practising fire based spells in a Telvanni grown house has not been a smart move to begin with, in spite that Azarsei had assured his younger brother that it was very safe to practice inside. Knowing his older brother the way he did, Lohren should not have been as surprised as he was when things got out of hand.

Even though Lohren is a mage who focuses on destruction magic he feels there it is expected of him to at least try spells from other schools of magic he weren't so acquainted with. The dunmer tells himself it is a choice he made and that he is free to do so at his own pace. He especially tells himself this when he is showered with speeches (from his mother, brothers and sister, teachers and.. well, the list goes on and on) of that is expected of him as a young and striving Telvanni mage.
He studies the schools of restoration, alteration, illusion, mysticism... Conjuration is a topic not mentioned in his company.
Enchanting he can't wrap his head around but, strangely, he finds himself understanding alchemy just fine.
He sticks to his fire, though. It is familiar and soothing. He grew up with it and it is closest to his heart.
