perhaps after the last impulsive act, kissing stephen strange, loki should have realized he wasn't thinking clearly. he saw the sign for the adoption event while on the way to the pub and got drawn in by all the cute animals. he came out of it with four new kittens: narvi, vali, sleipinir, and jormungandr. it might have been obsessive adopting the entire litter but it felt wrong separating the siblings. he couldn't leave one of them behind unwanted. that would be too cruel. "so do you think if i show up to work with four kittens my brother will be mad or do you think he'll let it go?" @walstarterblog

loki was confused and frankly a bit embarrassed. he had spent the better part of the last few days in the hospital after getting into some sort of bar fight. the fact that he had gone to a bar seemed rather confusing, he didn't usually drink much. maybe a glass or two of wine or scotch after a particularly long, stressful day at the school but that was typically in the comfort of his own home. getting in a fight seemed even more uncharacteristic. the first thing he did after getting out was go shopping for new clothes. he had no interest walking around in the borrowed scrubs he had been given. "now this feels more like me," he said pulling his hair out of the collar of a new jacket he was trying on. it was then he noticed someone staring at him. "can i help you with something?"

loki had lost control of his powers. all of his powers. he kept accidentally casting spells, mostly destructive spells. not to mention his glamor had dropped. he knew from the trip to jotunheim with thor and the idiot warriors three that if he touched anyone they'd get frost bite. so when someone started to approach him, he backed up in a panic. "d-don't come near. i'm not safe. you'll freeze or my powers i can't- just stay away."

"i had it under control. you didn’t need to do that." loki grumbled shaking his head. he clearly had not had the situation under control. the kitchen looked like it had exploded: there was stains everywhere and smoke was filling up the room. the smoke alarm had just started going off. "...okay maybe i didn't totally have control of it. but it's not like i have much experience cooking." @forafcrtnight

"now is that any way to greet your brother," loki teased, trying to ease some of the tension he felt. he had imagined many different scenarios around reuniting with thor since ending up on the timeline. he wasn't sure if this was going to be one of the happier ones where they hugged or one where his brother was angry and they fought. "he's dead in your timeline, isn't he? thanos snapped his neck." that was the most reasonable explanation for thor's confusion. "he didn't trick you. he actually died like he was supposed to on the sacred timeline. i'm... i'm a variant. i strayed from the timeline, took the tesseract and ran back in new york. and well to make a long story short i'm here now."

when loki saw a blonde walking around with what looked like mjolnir he started running after her. since he arrived here he had been hoping he could be reunited with his brother or frigga but a sister... well she'd do. "hey! hey you! thor!" he shouted chasing after her. norns he hoped she answered to thor and wasn't like sylvie who changed her name. "i don't know if you have a brother in your timeline but i'm loki. i've been looking for you everywhere since i got stuck here."

"suburban huh? sounds a bit more domestic than i'm comfortable with." loki attempted to joke though his heart wasn't really in it. all he could think about was how strange had told him tony had gotten into a fight. if he was still picking fights maybe he hadn't really changed that much since the gala. could he be with someone who's temper went off that easily? his own wasn't that great but at least he knew he was actually trying to change. "anthony, what is this i hear about you starting a fight with a witch? i thought you claimed you'd changed."

loki conjured up a quill and sheet of paper. well it wasn't much but at least he got the right objects or almost right, he had been hoping for. a normal pen, to show up this time. "what was that again? i'm afraid i'll need you to repeat that genius quote to get it down verbatim." he responded rolling his eyes at the woman. "i know it's real. hence the spellbook. if i have these powers i might as well make them useful."
