“That was hot.”

Natasha’s head snaps to gape at you. “He just whacked someone upside the head with a metal sceptre. You know that guy’s probably dead, right?”

You shrug, resting your chin in your hand with a dreamy sigh. “So? Nobody’s perfect.”

“Loki just probably killed someone.”

“…he could slap me across the face and I’d probably say thank you.”

The ex-assassin shakes her head at you and goes back to inputting coordinates, fingers tapping away at a holographic keyboard. “You need help, honey.”

“I need Loki, honey,” you counter, slyly reaching around her to get the mic connecting her to the other coms. She notices your attempt, of course, and smacks your hand away.

“You’re going to compromise this entire operation.”

“C’mon, Nat, just lemme talk to him,” you whine, trying again to grab the mic—she holds it out of your reach and you jump her, scrabbling for the mic and trying to push her face away, a sudden wildly chaotic catfight in front of the tv screens monitoring the others in the field.

“Hah! Suck it!” You clutch the mic to your chest and bolt out the door as Natasha curses and pulls herself off the floor to chase after you, fiery hair sticking up wildly.

Running down the hallway to find the first little closet you can, you shove yourself inside and slam the door. “Loki? Uh…come in, Loki?” You tap the mic, holding down the intercom button. “Loki, are you there?”

“You’re not supposed to have access to our coms, dearest…” Loki sounds exasperated but amused—you decide to only hear the amusement.

“Yeah…but this is an emergency.”

You can practically hear Loki’s heart drop.

“Stay where you are. I’ll be there in two seconds—”

Biting back a giggle, you hold the mic closer in the dark little broom closet. “You look really sexy in that suit.”

Silence on the other end of the line.

“Loki? I said you look really sexy—”

The com crackles back to life and Loki’s crisp accent sounds slightly strangled. “I heard you, darling, th-thank you.”

Your heart soars for a moment but starts pounding when you hear Natasha storming down the hallway, yelling for you. “Your ass looks so good in those pants,” you whisper, reaching up with one hand to hold the door shut, just in case. “And that coat and scarf combo makes me feel…things.”

“Oh?” Loki clears his throat and you wish you could see him get all flustered on the screens in the other room. “I’d love to hear, but—”

Nat walks past your hiding place without a second look and you give a happy little squeal, holding the mic closer to your mouth. “When you smacked that guy with your sceptre I almost said ‘harder, daddy’ out loud, Loki. With Nat in the room.”

White noise.

“Lokiiii…” you tap the mic again, biting your lip in anticipation of the equally dirty response you know is on the way. “Loki, baby, where’d you go?”

A faint sound comes from the speaker and you listen closer: oh my god.

People are laughing.

“Don’t worry, you crazy kids,” Tony’s on the line, busting up with laughter. “We’ll get Loki back as soon as possible and he’ll definitely still be in that suit.”

Your heart plummets and you hear a faint mocking “harder daddy!” from Clint somewhere in the distance.

“Fuck you guys, fuck you all, oh my god,” you groan, and Nat chooses that moment to fling the door to your hiding spot open, doubled over with laughter.

“That,” she wheezes, clapping a hand on your shoulder, “was the greatest thing I’ve heard in my entire life.”

“I hate you all with a burning passion, you know that?” You clap a hand over your face, embarrassed beyond belief, and throw the mic at Nat.

“Next time we’ll get you a direct line to your boo, don’t worry,” Tony snorts over the com. “Judging from his face being redder than Nat’s hair right now, I think Frosty’s pretty interested in hearing those things you were feeling.”
