Seriously, though, I try to keep names separate because my profession is one where the wrong person finding my blog has a potential to go over very badly. As individuals, most people are pretty chill about it, so I'm not nearly as paranoid as I used to be. By now I'm just so much in habit of going by "rose," you know? Anyway the wrong higher up on a licensing board could still probably give me some serious trouble.
If you want I could tell you the backstory for why I took the name "rose." It's cute.

OKAY. SO. They do stick to the books on SO MUCH - Thorin's fucking speech, you have no idea ;______________; - but there's also a lot that's different? And some of that is just working with things they'd changed in the last two films, like bringing Azog back and scenes between Galadriel and Gandalf (and okay, honestly, we could have done with more Galadriel, but at the same time, what we had was perfect? She's always someone I want so much more of, but I think is used to greater effect in small doses, if that makes any sense.)
And they change what happens to the boys (*sob*) slightly, and Bilbo doesn't miss the entirety of the Battle, but he does get knocked out, and - and I know you said you want to be spoiled, but I don't want to spoil you. This film deserves to be encountered as fresh as you can.
So, the stuff they changed? We liked it. ("We" being me and my friend, who's quite a stickler against changing from the source, sometimes.) It made it hurt more, sure, but it...made it better, too. Visually, certainly. And while I wouldn't ever want to say anyone can tell Tolkein's story better than him...it tells it from a different angle.
Also, holy shit, the references to the original trilogy. They were so well done.
Oh man, Tauriel. My beautiful baby girl, she. I was going to say she's okay, but. Um. No. But she's alive, which was a bit of a worry. She's alive, she survives, if not entirely intact, and she is still amazing. She stands up to her king and for what's right and protects those in her charge and and and. My poor, beautiful, amazing girl. I need all the fic. I may write it for her. She deserves the fucking world. Especially after all this.
And I know you didn't ask, but seriously, fuck Richard Armitage. Fuck him and fuck his fucking talent. I'm not talking to him right now. I've been watching him and his microexpressions since 2006 (longer, but I didn't know that), and watching him die for almost that long (I went down to London for The Crucible in July! It's not easily forgettable). You think I'd be used to it. But no. Fucking no.
And oh, oh, you ship them too, right? Oh man, the pain is. So much worse. /o\
Um. I mean. You'll laugh a lot, which I wasn't prepared for, but you will cry. Take tissues and painkillers, my head still hurts.
