Hello dear Anon. Sorry it took me a bit to get to this but this ask came just before a tough week started. Do I sound like I have solid opinions? I mean, I do have a lot of them and I love sharing them, and tag games are great for me to just scream about stuff that I've thought way too much about. So pining and kissing. Long term pining is a favourite of mine, although long term in bl can get pretty long with some boys pining since childhood. Also that first kiss is often so loaded with emotions that I'm usually internally screaming the whole time. Honestly sometimes most of the time there's a lot of external screaming as well. Also, for me personally, a great kiss scene is way more than the touching of the lips, it's the build up, the tension around it, does it feel in tune with the chars and the moment, several things can turn a fine kissing scene into a great one. Ok, enough rambling and let's get down to that list.

Jack and Joker

Since it was mentioned in the ask I felt it best to start here. This scene is so good. There's an inevitability feeling in the air, like this is it, no way it's not happening now. Also, I mean, why is spin the bottle in my bl if no one is gonna kiss? The whole scene was perfection. Jack 'daring' Joke to be his boyfriend, Joke pushing the bottle aside and getting close, answering yes and just completely giving in to his feelings. All this with Dome's song. It's such a good kissing scene. And of course Yin and War kill at this type os scene.

Bad Buddy

This one is mandatory. I mean what can I even say at this point? We can't talk about pining and first kisses and not mention them. Incredible work by everyone involved. No shortage of people talking about this kiss much more eloquently so I'll leave it at that.

My Only 12%

Long term pining you said? Well, can't go longer than this actually. I think Seeiw fell in love when he first shared a crib with Cake. Cake's whole speech in this scene was amazing and I couldn't believe that they hadn't properly kissed yet at this point. But imo it made sense and I do think that with their history it was important that Seeiw felt loved and wanted by Cake. That it wasn't because he was confused, or they were already close and hugged each other to sleep since they were kids. It was something else.

We Best Love

Crying kisses my beloved. Another one that puts the long in long term pining. Gao Shi De my beautiful pining boy had his eyes on Shu Yi since childhood. Everything about this scene is perfection. A shouting confession on a bridge, a second first kiss cause Shu Yi is right, that first one doesn't count, and both of them crying with the most amazing song in the background. Just rewatching that scene alone makes me feel all the feelings.

Our Dating Sim

Finally they stop running! Ok, to be fair only one of them was actually trying to stay away but still. After 7 years of not speaking and mutual pining and soon after one of the best lines in bl (Have you been well? Without me?😢) they finally kiss! I love Gi Tae honesty in the present time. Boy was not gonna let history repeat itself so he says what he feels. But also using alcohol as an excuse when it truly wasn't.

Old Fashion Cupcake

Honestly I'm not sure how long it was but since Togawa was smitten from the interview day I'm just gonna say he was pining for a long while. Regardless this one shot sequence is incredible so I think it belongs here. Togawa just can't take it anymore and completely loses control and the way it's shot and acted you can feel that, and you can feel the tension and the break that follows. They are extraordinary in this scene.

Cherry Magic Thailand

I know Achi is the one who gets the magic powers but I think the universe rewrote its own rules and made it so Achi would find out just how hard Karan was crushing on him. And it caught Jinta by proximity. For 7 years this loser (very affectionate) was thinking about his crush 24/7 not even hoping for a kiss. Just proximity was a lot for him to handle at first. Anyway, after the many hurdles they finally kiss and it's gorgeous. I love that Achi is the one who initiates it cause he's grown braver. AAAAAAHHHHH I just love them so much.

Reset

Speaking of simps and the universe rewriting its rules. Man so in love he turned back time. This kiss was ridiculously good. The chemistry with them was always on point and when they finally kiss it doesn't disappoint. It was also so perfect for them and the moment, no notes.

Love Class 2 - Maru & Min Woo

Another besties to lovers cause honestly no trope goes harder with pining. Min Woo had been pining for years as well and they drove me crazy. But that so often happens to me with pining besties when one is so obviously in love and the other is the only one who can't see what's right in front of his face. I just end up screaming, JUST SAY IT! or HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE IT? But it's delicious and probably the reason I love my pining boys. So when Maru finally realises that all the clues were there since forever they finally kiss and it's a glorious kiss.

Now for a very special category in this list. "If I had a nickel for a long term pining boy that gets to have his first kiss with his crush with the pretence of rehearsing a kiss scene, I'd have 2 nickels".

I mean, Nubsib did need to rehearse and honestly Gene needed the material so it's a win-win. It's a great kiss made better by Gene narration of it while he's writing about it later.

At 25:00 in Akasaka S1

Asami, the king of yearning and restraint. This sequence is incredible. The way it's edited between the rehearsal and the filmed kiss is so effective at showing how blurred the lines are here. Both of these are 'fake' kisses for all intents and purposes but for Asami they're anything but. He's been yearning for Yuki since well before they met again for the making of the drama and he's been slowly letting himself lose control little by little with the excuse of the series.

What are your thoughts on pinkshipping? (Joey/Siegfried if you didn't know)

I do know! I actually really enjoy it after seeing @nireey ‘s Pinkshipping fanart and her fanfic! I don’t like it as much as Lavendershipping (duh) or Rosenshipping aka Hackshipping (Kaiba/Siegfried), but that might just be the lack of content so far. I’m open to being swayed! That honestly goes for any ship.

I’m currently exploring Joey + Siegfried in a strictly platonic dynamic over on my Siegfried RP blog, @rosetintedduelist , and there’s definitely some good interactions to be had between these two!

Their ship, however, definitely falls into the “prince and the pauper”/“beauty and the brute” -like tropes. Rosenshipping isn’t like that all, and Lavendershipping only touches on those tropes depending on characterization, so it’s really up to what flavor of Siegfried ship I want to enjoy that day. Spoiler alert, it’s usually Lavendershipping. But Pinkshipping is a nice change of pace!

okay, so i need the insight of a true sam girl (you) for a fic of mine. it's gonna sound really stupid but hear me out: if sam were to give a mug to reader (and he has a massive crush on her, but she shall never know), what do you think would be on it? like a stupid pun, or a cute drawing, or whatever

i swear i have been staring at this document and the comment "(having a hard time imagining what kinds of mugs sam likes, but describe it here.)" is *haunting* me. i need help from the specialists.

Okay I totally think he'd give a mug with some kind of pun. I think he'd be all bashful about it like he thinks it's too silly (and he has to be so serious and grown-up all the time, right? no.) Secretly though?? He thinks it's funny. He will have seen it somewhere and immediately thought it was goofy or clever (most likely both!). Cute drawing / text is a bonus for him, I'd say!

I do think though that the gift might not be exactly on the mark. I get the impression that Sam has like a 50-50 hit-ratio when it comes to giving gifts— either he really nails it or he misses the mark.

AND I really enjoyed this thought experiment because I came to a particular conclusion: Sam values the beauty of a complete set of things more than an individual item that's beautiful. Me, Rose? I have special cups for everything because I'm the kind of person who likes individual plateware that I will inevitably assign to specific meals or drinks (yes and that's fully normal, I agree). Sam, though? I think he finds a lot more pleasure in using one of the same mug set that he likes but mainly because he really appreciates keeping all of them alive and in-use. It's also more practical than attaching emotions to one object.

My proof (coming in the later seasons) is that the man doesn't buy new stuff for the bunker. He buys a new coffee maker but he doesn't get new cups. The man likes the pyramid of the old ones that are like 20-of-a-kind next to the machine.

CONCLUSION: imho, if Sam's buying a mug for reader, I think it's gonna be pun-y and cute. And I think a mug is a perfectly reasonable thing for him to buy someone, not stupid at all!!! This specific mug he picks out only for reader, not because it's one he would use. He likes seeing them using it, appreciating it, that's very validating for him. When he sees it in the dish drainer it makes him smile quietly to himself. As for Sam using and appreciating mugs, it'll have to depend on when you're setting the story. I only caution you that usually people who don't have a home don't keep coffee mugs lmao. See references from canon below (and also fuck the canon man, do what you want!!!)
