Never a bad time for a drink, especially if it's Gosnells London Mead in #Lokkee’s Dragon Phoenix Pot, a bubbling double boiled broth with prawns and tender chicken. #tunglokaclass . . . . . #nothingisordinary #myfab5 #f52grams #dailyfoodfeed #lovefood #eatingfortheinsta #flatlay #spoonfeed #huffposttaste #infatuation #buzzfeast #feedyoursoull #cheatmeal #tastingtable #forkyeah #heresmyfood #eater #eattheworld #foodblogfeed #singaporean #sgvsco #gf_singapore #yoursingapore #FindNewFood #burpple #mediatasting (at Lokkee) https://www.instagram.com/p/BulWnVhh9Hg/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1w699vhwnwyrq
Not exactly a #CNY2019 dish, but #Lokkee's signature Wagyu Truffle Hor Fun deserves to be on every table! Premium A4 Wagyu beef rest lovely, wok hei-licked hor fun (flat rice noodles) and generous portions of crispy, deep-fried hor fun. Tied together with the creaminess of picked egg and a hot truffle gravy. #TunglokAClass . . . . . #nothingisordinary #myfab5 #f52grams #dailyfoodfeed #lovefood #eatingfortheinsta #flatlay #spoonfeed #huffposttaste #infatuation #buzzfeast #feedyoursoull #cheatmeal #tastingtable #forkyeah #heresmyfood #eater #eattheworld #foodblogfeed #singaporean #sgvsco #gf_singapore #yoursingapore #thisissingapore #sonyalpha #MediaTasting #FindNewFood (at Lokkee) https://www.instagram.com/p/BtpW6eAh428/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=12twxkcwkk6wj

I’ve always maintained that American chinese food is a cuisine of its own category in the same way that straits Chinese cuisine us not china chinese cuisine. Food, by its very nature, has to adapt to its environment. COoks have to find substitutes and adapt to the tastebuds of their clientele or their restaurants will not survive.
While growing up, I’ve come to accept that American chinese food is normally known to be cheap and satisfying but oily and not very good most of the time. i was extremely surprised to find out that the Tung Lok group of restaurants decided to open Lokkee, an american chinese food concept. that’s really taking chinese fine dinning to a different level. up or down, i think depends on who is eating it.
First of all its not cheap. for just the two of us the bill was $120. But to be fair we ordered quite a bit of food. And a flaming pineapple was involved. With real flames.
The food wasn’t bad. It was definitely American Chinese cuisine. Especially the fried rice. The pineapple pork was pretty good, flames and all. Left a bit of a tangy aftertaste. The pork buns were delicious. The bread wasn’t too thick, and was just sweet enough.
We made the reservations through the Chope app and it was pretty easy. Its located in Plaza Singapura (the old wing). Its between a Thai restaurant and Swensens, on the 2nd floor, near the front of the building. Not that hard to find once you know what you are looking for.
