Happy Birthday, Maurice Ravel! (7 March 1875 – 28 December 1937)
A special new series was started on Monday, here on Musica in Extenso, that reflects and focus on the genius music of the french composer, Maurice Ravel including his instrumental work, trough vocal music and opera.
Today, on his birthday, we will share the immense and monumental orchestra work, Boléro, a masterpiece that is a permanent composition at every serious institution that has a good orchestra. The one-movement orchestral piece, initially was written as a ballet and it premiered in 1928, Ravel's most famous composition.
