copypasting my replies from the original post: oh god absolutely this. if anything me and @trollmarket-dog rewatched it and found MORE upsetting things, like how his mom outright forces him to celebrate his birthday, a day he explicitly doesn’t want to celebrate because it’s a traumatic anniversary, which she has known for a long time and which she steamrolls right over him wearily telling her again. this does not look like something she’s doing for the first time, either. she wants the experience of throwing a traditional birthday party for her son and by god she’ll get it, his feelings on the matter be damned. boundaries???? what are those?

(the cherry on top is how she not-so-subtly guilts him for not liking the gift she got him. christ, barb.)

and i like her too, even! she’s a flawed character who’s been through a lot of shit and it shapes her actions, and she’s actually relatable to me in ways i have to watch out for, and i really enjoy that the show doesn’t make her out to be a cackling abuse harpy. she’s a mom with depth, whose issues stem from trauma and have heartbreakingly harmful effects on her son and are her responsibility to fix, not his.

i just. would really like to be able to talk more about her without having to constantly interrupt myself to loudhorn HEY PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THIS IS BAD, WHAT SHE’S DOING. especially given how fucking cruel people get when i do.

I… I have never even imagined making s’mores from peeps… that is amazing and terrifying all at the same time.

its honeslty no different then regular smores as far as i know and recall from eating smores with regular marshmallows, but something about using melted peeps is oddly nostalgic. Its fusing two things i ate a lot of as a child into one.

  Uhh my first anime was fruit basket, my first manga is Ouran High School Host Club. It has been about 4 years ago.
