oof i'm sorry the universe is being a dick to you today :( let's see:

my favorite era is right now. they just don't give a fuck anymore. i mean, don't get me wrong, i love love love reading back old tweets and formspring answers from 2009/2010, but right now? right now we have unreserved affection, and it's my favorite kind of unreserved affection.

because yeah, they had that back in the beginning, but that was the wonderful, exciting unreserved affection of new love. and now it's soft, sometimes annoyed, but it's rooted in lasting love. because that's what they have isn't it?

a love that's withstood nine years, hiding in plain sight in the public eye. i don't think we should look at them and think that everything has been perfect the entire time because it hasn't. and i don't think we should look at them and think that everything's perfect now, because i'm sure it isn't. but it's good.

they're not afraid to sit close together on camera anymore. they've done two stage shows which they've created entirely by themselves and traveled the world together. they've made it clear that they have no intentions of moving away from each other any time soon. in fact, they've made it pretty clear that they just plan to keep moving closer and closer together. they made a mukbang video where they talked so so casually, more than i've ever seen them do before.

and they've been sharing all of this with us because they really don't give a fuck anymore.

are they still closeted? yes, absolutely. i don't think they will ever "come out." but they've stopped putting on certain personas that try to disuade people from making assumptions about them. they've started to just let people make assumptions, neither confirming or denying them because they don't have to. and that makes me so so happy. because they don't care. not more than they absolutely need to, and that's all i've ever wanted for them.
