based off prompt 1. "You are one in a melon"

(Congratulations on almost reaching 1K followers! Here is my little addition to your event. Enjoy~)

The morning sun is warm on his skin. The soft breeze is sticky with humidity from the rain that had drizzled all through the night. Wildflowers are in full bloom, insects flutter around the petals, sunlight glistening on the waxy blades of green.

It smells and feels like summer all around him – from the drenched earth to the sky above him.

To the left of the cabin he shares with you, there’s a separation of trees and bushes that lead to an open space where he has spread a picnic blanket. Legs stretched out and back resting against a tree, he listens to the birds sing as he waits for you.

I’ll be right there, honey, you’d said. Danced around the kitchen eating picked berries, looking wild amongst his row of plants littered along the floor and countertops.

He perks up as you step through the opening, sunlight pouring through in golden rays as you push through the branches of the Willow tree.

You linger, take your time roaming your eyes over him; he does the same, smiling as he watches you. The weightless gauze dress you wear falls delicately on your frame, a small twine basket lined with gingham fabric on your arm. Your hair is long, wild despite the loose braid you’ve fashioned your locks into.

The braid and dress are new, but the sparkle in your eyes, the way you smile at him – relaxed and carefree – that is familiar.

“Hi darling,” he says, delighted when you sit between his legs and rest your back against his chest with an ease that speaks of nothing but comfort, belonging.

“Sorry it took me so long,” you apologize, tracing the tip of your nose along his jawline. “I brought your favorite.”

“Did you, sweetheart?” he asks, hopeful – loving you.

You nod, skin flushed and glistening from the heat, and pull out a container from your little basket. It’s watermelon, fruit as red as your lips and cut into little squares, neatly organized into rows.

You take one between your fingers, bring it up to his lips and he takes a bite: it’s sweet, perfectly ripe, and he hums in approval.

You take the rest, slip it between your mouth and he watches, mesmerized, as you moan in delight.

He grips your chin then, gently turns your head so he can kiss you freely. He tastes the watermelon sugar, tingling on the sweet tongue encased in an even sweeter mouth.

You giggle against his lips, honeyed and lighter than the summer breeze.

He’s enraptured by you, can’t help but kiss you again and again – your bright pink lips swollen and wet with cold bites of fruit.

Nothing exists but you and him for the rest of the morning, silly with joy as you share happiness and laughter under the shade of that tree.

You wrap yourself over him, love him so sweetly.

Here, next to you, is where he wants to be – always.

Aloha my friends and welcome to our small little summer holiday! As I announced yesterday I'm planning to host a small little summer event with and for you, because I'm pretty close to 1000 followers I wanted to do this to say thank you 🌟 (really, I mean it. You guys mean a lot to me) (oh and i wanted to celebrate my birthday, too... Hehe)

Starting on the 1st od August, there will be five prompts for five days and you can attend the event with any piece of content. May it be a doodle, a piece of art, a drabble, a poem, a written piece - just do what you feel good with - no pressure! But please keep it Mystic Messenger related.

I promise I will reblog your piece, make sure to @ me and/or tag your post with #longcat_summer /#longcat-summer and I'll try to find it 😎 (it may take a while for me to react, because I'm still working full time, but I'll try my very best)

Now! Drumroll please *drdrdrdrrd* here are the prompts:

1. "You are one in a melon" munching fruits on a little picnic or feed your mystic favourite, be creative! Maybe you're just singing watermelon sugar high with your partner in crime.

2. "Nama'stay at the beach" spend a day at the beach with your favourite RFA member - you can also stay at the pool if you don't like open water or algae (but seriously who likes walking around in algae?)

3. "Cocktails- Wine not?" Enjoy a nice evening/day with your sweetheart, you don't have to drink something of course- it's up to you. But what is that blue potion doing over there?

4. "Here comes the sun(flower)" this one is a special one for me - Sunflowers are really pretty and by far my favourite flower, so why not give one to your favourite? How will they react?

5. "A cream come true" Do you miss eating some Ice cream on a hot summer day? Me too. Take your chance and share one with your loved one!

If you have another idea for a summer/ beachy prompt don't hesitate to create something for your own idea - that's ok too. Oh and before i forget about it: please try to keep things fluffy, if you want to do something angsty, try to keep it light please, same goes for nsfw stuff.

I will create a masterlist around the 10th of August, so there's plenty of time for you to attend the event before it ends.

And I think... That's about it for now. I really hope you will enjoy this event as much as I hope to enjoy it, even though it's on super short notice (I'm sorry, planning things is not my forte)

@shittylongcatposts forgive me for the day four science lesson I am about to give. Amen.

"Look what I've got!" She came bounding into the apartment, excitement clear on her face. Unknown raised an eyebrow at her. Then with a flourish, she presented him with a sunflower. "Ta-dah!"

"Oh." He took the flower in his hand, giving it a deeper look that she had expected.

"Whatcha thinking?" She asked him, sitting next to him on the couch.

"Did you know sunflowers have a negative connotation too?" He asked her, turning the flower over in his hands. "Thay can be used to express an unhappy love."

"Huh. I wonder why." She said, leaning up against his side.

"Probably because of the way they grow." He said, giving the flower a wry smile. "Sunflowers are nutrient drainers, taking everything from the soil and leaving behind toxins that prevent the growth of other plants, even after they themselves have died."

"They have so many positive meanings though." She said, tugging the flower out of his hand and shifting into his lap so that he would focus fully on her.

"Devotion, loyalty," she started, placing his hand on her chest. "Peace and hope," she continued, cupping his face in her hands, "warmth. You give me so much warmth it's unimaginable."

His face was beet red at this point, but he nuzzled his face into her hand.

"You are too much." He whispered and she giggled.

"You're stuck with me at this point~"

Years later, shifting through the books on coding that found their way onto her bookshelf, she found yellow petals pressed between the pages. She smiled softly, placing them back into the book.
