Bee and Longshot in 88???

Happy Belated Valentine's Day, Smellershitters!
+HEADCANON: One year on Valentine's Day, Jet found Smellerbee in a rather disgruntled mood. Pipsqueak was sick, so she'd ended up spending the whole day covering both his and her watch shifts instead of hunting for dinner with Longshot. Jet, being the troll that he is, decided to take advantage of Bee's Hallmark holiday ignorance and have a little fun.
"Hey, Bee."
An annoyed glare. "What do you want?"the addressee spat, pulling the ratty blanket around her shoulders. Of course Pipsqueak would get sick during the coldest part of the year, and she'd get stuck with his watch.
"Hey, chill out!" Jet replied cooly, twirling a stalk of wheatgrass in his fingers. "Don't you know what today is?"
"Really effing cold?"
"It's Valentine's Day!" he grinned, only to be met with a blank stare.
"Valen-who?"
She doesn't know--?
The smooth-talker held back a grin as a dastardly plan unfolded before him. Oh, it would be perfect--
"You know, people give each other food and ask each other to be their Valentine."
"But what the heck's a Valentine?"
Jet feigned caution, whipping his head around as if to search for eavesdroppers. "It's like a secret code," he whispered. "Only a couple of people know what it means."
"Well, what is it?"
Oh boy, she was hooked--
"It's a way of asking someone if you're their best friend," he explained.
"That sounds kinda dumb."
"Eh, it's a stupid village holiday," said Jet, "but it's a good excuse to ask, if you've ever been curious."
The pensive look on Bee's face lasted but two seconds before she came to a casual resolution. "Eh, I guess I'll ask Longshot, then."
Yes!
"Do you know when he gets back?"
Then, as if on queue, the telltale buzzing of the pulley system rattled into existence, yielding a certain silent archer with the day's catch a few seconds later.
"Oi! Longshot!"
Bee approached her friend, a little nervous. What if he said no?
"Hey. Nice catch!" she stalled, wondering why this was making her so anxious.
Longshot nodded cautiously, detecting her slight discomfort. Yeah, and...
"Can I ask you something?"
A curious nod.
"Longshot... will you be my Valentine?"
Jet had to physically cover his mouth and stifle a guffaw as the archer's ears quickly turned to match the forest's leaves. Oh, this was priceless...
But-- but then it got better! He got that goofy look on his face and nodded repeatedly!
Aha, I KNEW it!
Smellerbee grinned girlishly. "R-really?"
Jet saw him nod again, his head bobbing up and down, and Spirits he would never let them forget this--
The swordswoman giggled--giggled!-- and wrapped her arms about his waist, clutching his midsection in a joyful hug. Longshot froze, blushing and bewildered and cursing the fact that his hands were full because Bee, Bee was snuggling; she was burying her shaggy mop of hair into his chest, undoubtedly aware of how wildly his heart was beating as her tiny body pressed into his--
He dropped both catch and reel without a second thought, scooping Bee into his arms as the articles clatter-splatted to the rickety wooden platform. The girl laughed as her feet left the ground, an inexplicable warmth spreading to every inch of her body, so weird and new but it felt so nice, and had hugs always been this wonderful--?
No, they hadn't. There was a friend, and then there was a 'best' friend, but this...
Jet was wrong. This was more. This--this was something so different; something exciting and scary and weird and altogether a great big jumbled mess in her head, and if she couldn't describe it then she could at least try to name it.
Valentine.
/////
And then Jet never, ever stopped teasing Bee, so she punched him in the face and got all flustered and couldn't look at Longshot in the eye for a month thereafter because she finally realizes how hot he makes her. The end.

looks like I smellershat all over the place
I blame the fandom
they made me do it but not really
THE SHIP (...ie; dingy) TO END ALL SHIPS NOW HAS THEIR OWN WEEK
Damn straight they are.
Who: Smellerbee and Longshot.
What: A week long celebration of our favorite pair of freedom fighters!
When: September 9th - September 15th
Where: Across the inter-web; Tumblr, DeviantArt, FanFiction, LiveJournal, anywhere and everywhere!
AND BE SURE TO SPREAD THE WORD!!!
How: Make fics, fan art, gifs, you name it! If you want to make graphics, I suggest using fan art in them as well, seeing as, unfortunately, they don't have a lot of screen time (but be sure to credit!!!). Get creative! Let's see what we can do - let's prove why we are the best shippers for the best ship in existance ;).* I, personally, am going to try (note: try) to make comics and/or an art piece with a story that explains it for the themes.
Why: Because this wonderful pairing needs more love and awareness - convert ALL THE PEOPLE to Smellershot. Everyone ships it actually - some just don't know it yet.
The Themes:
Day 1: Nerves
Day 2: Lonesome
Day 3: Shift
Day 4: Cross
Day 5: Change
Day 6: Lucky
Day 7: Warm
I wanted to make the themes ambiguous - they can be chronological and relate to the last or just they can be solely their own thing.
And be sure to look up various definitions of the words! Some may surprise you. It might spark something different from what you were thinking and you'll create something totally unique!
Be sure to tag with 'smellershot week' to share all the glorious things created with us (along with the obvious smellershot, smellerbee, and longshot tags...).
Have fun shooting! ;)
*Others may disagree with this statement. And if they do, they are wrong.
