YGOTOBER Day 1: Decorations
Atemu was up in the attic, on his hands and knees, looking through the boxes that were around him. "Which one is it?" He asked himself out loud. THUD! "Ouch!" He screamed.
"Are you okay up there?" Solomon cried out from floor below.
"Yeah, I bumped my head on the stupid board." Atemu replied as he rubbed his injured head. "Where are the decorations again?"
"Should be on your left." Solomon thought for a moment. "Or your right."
Atemu rolled his eyes and groaned. Why did he want to do this again? Oh right! Yugi, his Aibou. He wanted to surprise Yugi by decorating the house before he got home from school. College kept Yugi pretty busy and he had recently mentioned that Halloween would be here before he knew it, yet no decorations had been put up.
"Did you find them?" Solomon asked.
"Not yet." Atemu began to back up when he noticed, to his left, a box that had the word "Halloween" in Yugi's handing writing. "Found it!" He smiled big.
Solomon smiled as well. "Great!"
Atemu grabbed the box and began his way down from the attic. Sighing when his feet touched the ground. "I hate that attic."
Solomon chuckled seeing Atemu's face scrunched up. "I wish I could help, but my back won't allow me up there anymore."
"It was my idea to do this while Yugi was away. Now let's open this up and get to decorating." Atemu walked into the living room, placing the box on the coffee table. He opened it and was surprised to see so many body parts, like not real ones, fake ones. "Got a thing for gore?" He asked Solomon without turning away from the box.
"I do, Yugi doesn't. When he was little,"
Atemu interupted and picked up a fake hand. "He used to run screaming when you would put this hand in a pot with some tomato sauce and try to get him to stir the pot." He chuckled.
Solomon walked over to the former Pharaoh and gave him a confused look. "How did you know that?"
"Yugi has shared all his memories with me, before I found my own. I know Yugi as if I was him."
"I didn't realize it went that far."
"He's a caring a boy."
"That he is. Also a chicken." Solomon chuckled as he reached into the box, pulling out some decorations. "You work on the outside, I work on the inside?"
"Sure." He smiled at the older man.
"Great! The ladder is in the shed in the back." Solomon walked out of the room quickly.
"Ah! Wait!" Atemu tried to stop him but he was already gone. "Not more heights." He sighed.
A couple hours later and a couple falls off the ladder, Atemu was finally done putting the pumpkin lights on the house/game shop. The inflatable Frankenstin that held a sign saying "Trick or Treat" was standing next to the door of the shop and he also had put some window vinyls on the side of the shop that lead to the house section. "All done." He smiled looking at the decorations he had. The sun had began to set and he went to plug in the lights.
"Wow!" an exciting voice called out.
Atem regonized that voice instantly. "Aibou!" He turned around and saw his counterpart. "How was school?" He asked walking over to him, putting his arms around his waist.
Yugi couldn't take his eyes off his home. "It was good. Did you do this by yourself?" He finally turned and looked at Atemu.
"I did! Grandpa worked on the inside but I don't know how it looks." Atemu turned around, taking Yugi's hand in his own, and walked towards the power cord. "Want to see it all lit up?"
Yugi nodded and Atemu plugged the lights in. Everything was working, thankfully. "Wow!" Yugi grinned.
"I know it's been a busy time and I wanted to surprise you with decorating the house." Atemu wrapped his arms around Yugi's waist again, but from behind this time. "You like it?" He kissed Yugi's cheek.
Yugi leaned back against Atemu, placing his hands over the other's. "I do. Thank you." He smiled. "How bad do you think it looks inside?"
"That alone is a horror film." Atemu chuckled as Yugi and him both walked inside, imagining how bad the damage was in their home.
