For the artist ask game! 11. Do you listen to anything while drawing? If so, what?

Hey hey Nope! Thanks for the ask!

I do often listen to music when drawing! It's usually Pokemon music - either the original tracks, Masters EX remixes, or other rremixes eg. by insaneintherain or Dr Pez. There's an underrated Hisui lofi mix that I really enjoy, it's one of my faves and I have it downloaded! Also have been really enjoying the Project Voltage songs recently, and GOTCHA, which is an old staple.

I listen to other lofi and instrumental too, but I tend to listen to the same favourites over and over again rather than just general lofi radio mixes, if you know what I mean? Eg. right now I really love the lofi album from Alan Becker's series, and Louie Zong's city pop album Aquarium City. Seycara has some awesome stuff too, it's not in my current rotation but shoutout to illusions of the heart and everlasting summer, they're old faves of mine :)

I go through phases, there was a time I was into electro swing and jazzy remixes. Proleter - April Showers is such a good tune...

Besides music, I sometimes get on call with friends and either engage in or listen to conversation while drawing and streaming. And if I'm doing something where I don't need focus as much, like lineart or colour, I might put on a video instead. I've watched a lot of WolfeyVGC while drawing haha XD

Hello I am here to ask about the characters hehe.

Ok but fr, I was wondering if you had a specific timeline in your head about the events of pla with protag Rei. For example, how long had he been in Hisui when he fought Volo, was it over the course of a few years or a shorter period of time? I go back and forth on how long the protag is in Hisui and I was wondering if you had any headcanons or theories about it? 👀

Oooh this is a nice ask, ty! I don't have a super solid grasp on the timeline either, but it's not short.

I know the in-game timeline presents the noble frenzies as happening one after another in a quite short period of time, but because my playthrough experience involved Not progressing the main story quickly, my perception of the timeline is wonky XD Perhaps they were all frenzied at once, like the game presents. Kleavor and Lilligant were quelled fairly quickly, but then there was a gap of time where Electrode and Avalugg were out of the way / slumbering even when frenzied, so not a priority, and ofc there was no Noble Arcanine. This also aligns with why my Rei likes the Coastlands so much, he got to spend proper time surveying it until the weight of responsibility crashed back down on him haha :)))

Conceivably that could happen over a couple of months, after which the main game climax could occur. Seems like a reasonable timeline to do requests for the villagers and start to settle in, to learn to love surveying and the land of Hisui, to see Jubilife as home.

But not enough to prevent him from being exiled.

Then I think Rei would have to slow down. Maybe throw himself into survey work for a while as a coping mechanism but in the end he's going to crash. He has some issues to work through... and so the quest to seek out legends with Volo is definitely not a priority. Consider that I haven't actually started that yet in my playthrough hahahaha

He just wants things to be Normal for a while, enough of legends. Maybe he'd work on it bit by bit over the course of a year or so, urged on by Volo who's getting a bit impatient.

TLDR: from arriving in Hisui to the maingame climax, a couple of months, then perhaps another year until the Volo postgame climax?

#this was really interesting to think about and write down #a lot of it isn't solid yet but it's a good worldbuilding thing to consider #my playthrough has taken over a year at this point to basically just finish the main game XDDD #i keep leaving it for long stretches of time #don't get me wrong i love the game but it's just how i end up playing #and in universe i think rei goes through a Lot with the noble quelling and the final battle.#feels kind of mean to do that too quickly there's no room for whimsy #after it all he needs to work on himself. reconciling his conflicted feelings and opening up to others despite the Betrayal of the exile #and that healing process takes time. no need to dump the volo Betrayal on him again right after. unless i want it to be more painful lmao #conceivably that could work he throws himself into the search with Volo and invests in this project emotionally #but this version of rei is informed by me and my playthrough so that might not happen. it aligns w/ my earlier rei & volo fics though #canon PLA would have the nobles and maingame done in like a month and the Volo thing in a few months after that #that's the impression i get and also what i think pokemas is going for (basis for my existing rei&volo fics)#pokemon rei #trainer rei #rei pokemon #rei #// tikposting #// tikanswers #longlivethedragons #comments and discussion welcome!#// worldbuilding
