Personal post: have been trying my best to merge my two lives into one this summer. This photo today reminds me that my art and my love of hats have had to converge. The stains on my arms are from silver nitrate, one of the chemicals that create the images I take using the wet plate collodion process invented in 1851. My current series of tintypes and ambrotypes is for the local county’s historical society archives, and is meant to draw attention to the history of the northwestern frontier. My hat profits help pay this project, as the grant I received @theartspartnership only paid for my equipment. By August of this year, I will have paid about $2k of hat earnings to complete my collaboration with @bonanzaville So long live the hats, helping to keep history alive and for funding my dreams.
