"Make sure you get my best angle in the photo, okay?" — Villain Tech
I have no words to describe how much this drawing is the spitting image of the characters (okay, I had given him a hint, but still). This is my favorite duo from this AU (wow, what a surprise -w-) and, honestly... Thank you, Jeshua! You're a wonderful artist!
Loonatics Headcanons: Tech E. Coyote
Tech was my second fav of the Loonatics. He's already pretty well developed so I wanted to use his HC page to delve into his past more and explain why he's the way he is.
-In his childhood, Tech lived in a dirt poor house with several other siblings. He was the middle and often forgotten and neglected by his family until he was 8 years old. Even so, Tech still cared for each and every one of them, as he knew they were just trying to get by.
-Coyotes and other predatory canines (but ESPECIALLY coyotes) are VERY stigmatized and prejudiced against in Acmetropolis. This is on purpose by ACME. And Tech has felt that stigma throughout his entire life.
-When Tech’s intelligence was made clear at a young age, THAT was when his parents started paying attention to him. They focused on him at the expense of his other siblings, who grew jealous that Tech was getting all the attention. Tech tried not to let it affect him. He reasoned that things would be better once he got a job and made money for them all.
-The fact that Tech was accepted into one of the most prestigious universities was seen as a stain. And the teachers and students did EVERYTHING they could to make Tech’s life harder in general.
-Tech is the most disliked member of the Loonatics team by the general public. People (no matter if they were Grands, Generals, and even some Gutters) have often made comments on how a “dangerous coyote” shouldn’t even be on the team.
-Mallory’s betrayal affected him more than he’d like to admit. She was the FIRST person that seemed to see him as more than “some ragged coyote.” So when it turned out she was just using him, he closed himself off really hard.
-It took a WHILE for him to even slightly trust the Loonatics. He still hasn’t completely opened up to them even now.
-Aside from inventing, Tech REALLY likes glass making and glass blowing. He especially likes doing stained glass art. To make money for his family, he would sell his glass art on the side (under a pseudonym/secretly, as he knew NO ONE would take art from a coyote).
-Tech’s biggest pet peeve is prejudice and judgemental people. He’s learned to NEVER judge people based on their appearance or what people say on them so seeing other people do that really grinds his gears. He cannot STAND Rev’s parents (especially Ralph) due to this because they fell so hard for propaganda.
-Tech is a very begrudging person as a whole. Not completely cynical like Duck, but there’s definitely some reluctance and resentfulness present in him, which can influence his decision making.
-However, Tech also happens to be a very fair-minded person. He treats everyone equally and knows how to examine all sides of an issue without bias. He’s actually the peacemaker of the Loonatics team due to this mindset.
-Outside of Rev, Tech gets along best with Duck on the team. Despite seeming adversarial at first glance, Tech can see Duck genuinely WANTS to make change. Not to mention, Duck ALWAYS asks for his opinions on how changes should be brought and Tech is secretly touched that Duck values his opinion enough to ask that.
-Rev and Tech originally did NOT get along. Rev, believing his parents’ lies about coyotes, was originally hesitant and distrustful around Tech and Tech thought Rev was shallow and superficial. However, the more time they spend around each other, the more their opinions slowly begin to change. Tech saw Rev’s intelligence and genuine kindness beneath the shelteredness and Rev saw Tech’s equal-mindedness and honesty. It came to a head when Rev saved Tech without prompting during a mission using nothing but his intelligence, which deeply impressed Tech.
-Tech was the second to last member of the team to be recruited. And originally, he didn’t even WANT to be on the team. However, it was thanks to a talk with Duck that he eventually came around and agreed (Duck made a passionate speech about how low-end Gutters needed to stick together…and that Tech could bring some real change if he accepted).
