:c extremely disappointed to learn that Michaels crafts did in fact get the rights to sell Big Twist Posh at their stores over Herrschners who basically only got rights to sell Big Twist Value.
as i feared, Michaels has fully rebranded the Big Twist yarn into their 'Loops & Threads' yarn AND i don't even think they're using the original Big Twist color ways.
their 'Vanilla' color is more white than a nice soft brownish like the Big Twist 'Vanilla Bean' (and this isn't their 'White' color, they have a pure 'White' color as well so why NOT make the 'Vanilla' color more lightly brown toned like 'Vanilla Bean'?)
their 'Bright Blue' is more cyan-y than Big Twist's 'Blueberry Smoothie' (tho, both colors are nice, if only they could sell them BOTH bc they're both good colors)
their 'Mint' is WAY more green than Big Twist's 'Mint Chip' (again both colors are nice if they weren't fully replacing Big Twist's nice color ways)
their 'Lemon' is NOTHING like Big Twist's buttery 'Lemon Meringue' color which AGAIN both are nice colors but likely only THEIRS will exist. but this genuinely just looks like they dyed chenille yarn their value yarn's yellow color dye rather than stick with Posh's color way line.
the 'Blush', 'Lilac' and 'Black' all look pretty close/similar to Big Twist's 'Rosehip', 'Ube Milk Tea' and 'Black Sesame Ice Cream'. so w/e on those ones but it's like, you bought the line to SELL that line, why aren't you selling what it once was and are just basically selling it under your own brand AND changing the way it originally looked?
AND ALSO? I WOULD'VE PREFERRED IT KEPT SELLING UNDER THE BIG TWIST BRAND BC THE NAMES WERE SO MUCH CUTER AND ENTICING WHEN THEY WERE BIG TWIST? I MEAN. UBE MILK TEA? RASPBERRY SORBET? CHOCOLATE FUDGE? I LITERALLY WANTED TO EAT THE YARN COS IT SOUNDS SO YUM.
they turned it into boring 'purple' 'pink' white'. you (supposedly) HAVE the rights to it, why not sell it as Big Twist?
i also wonder if it even FEELS like the original Posh line or if they GENUINELY just took their own chenille yarn they already sell (cos yes, they already sell several chenille types before they got greedy over joann's death) and dyed it with their own colors and are just claiming it was once Big Twist's Posh, to which, that would make even LESS sense to spend money on buying the rights to sell it if you.. were just using what you already had (other than to basically monopolize that line of yarn so no one else COULD sell it but like.. they ALREADY HAD CHENILLE YARN THEY DIDN'T NEED BIG TWIST'S JUST ADD SOME MORE COLOR VARIETY YOU LIKELY WOULD'VE GOTTEN MORE BUSINESS FOR THE LACK OF JOANN EXISTING REGARDLESS. cos even in their value color ways, they are SEVERELY lacking in GREENS)
(and yes, i did save archived pics of Big Twist's yarn lines i both main in and wanted to try bc i had wanted to keep images of their stuff in case no one ever picked up their brand considering it was an in-house brand to find alts close as i could to them)
super happy that herrschners is selling the value brand tho and it has STAYED Big Twist. just really wish they could've gotten Posh cos i DESPERATELY wanted to try that one. it was so soft and cute.
(i'm just a LIL bit passionate about yarn u w u )
Here is my 2025 temperature blanket update. January is finished 🎊🎉.
First ball of yarn & second ball of yarn.
6 Day Star Blanket
So far: 2x Loops and Threads Impressions in Olive
Two Dishcloths Down.
Top right and center:
I used a waffle stitch pattern called the double bump. Both sides result in a nice, scrubby dish cloth. I used Lily Sugar n'Cream Cream 100% cotton yarn in red and size U.S 7 (4.5 mm) Clover-leaf Takumi bamboo knitting needles.
Bottom two; I made a Grandma's Easy Dish cloth in the Patriotic Ombre by Loops and Threads (It's actually Lily Sugar n'Cream Cream!) 100% cotton yarn. I used size U.S.9 (5.5 mm) Clover-Leaf Takumi bamboo knitting needles.
Both dishcloths look pretty folded up.
I'm just doing some morning knitting. Because, why not.
Daydreamer Bralette 💤💤💤
Available in the shop in Small and Medium!
Hoping to find a duplicate of this yarn to make larger sizes!
