I noticed that in the fs fandom, narratives determine everything. I remember the 2017-18 season, how everybody seemed to be pointing out Evgenia's flutz, while praising Alina's "lutz."
In reality, her edge becomes shallow/flat right before takeoff. Her toe pick assist morphs into a blade assist, so it's not a proper toe jump and as such not even a proper lutz.
For instance, this attempt here. It starts out on a clear outside edge.
But then it morphs into an unclear/flat edge.
Then, the toe pick assist becomes a blade assist.

However, this isn't something a lot of people pointed out at the time, especially in comparison to Evgenia. Everyone knew that Evgenia flutzed (or rather flooptzed) and had a blade assist, due to Koola King's videos, to the point she was called "Flutzgenia." But there just wasn't this level of scrutiny for anyone else with poor technique, including Alina.
A sport cannot be fair when double standards like this exist and false narratives drive the conversation. I hope that, as time passes, most fans will learn how to identify poor technique on their own, without relying on someone else's (possibly biased) judgement.
