Anything a change of scenery involve, you can pretty much count me in. So when two months ago, my college friends decided to go on a weekend trip somewhere in the north I didn’t hesitate to come even with the loaded clinical requirements. Yes, it was a threat to my clinic schedule and even with my health considering all the activities we’ve done but it’s a risk I’m always willing to take. At the end, it was more than a trip. It was something hard to forget and heart-warming to look back.
I wouldn’t want to spill all the details of our good time but what I’ll be talking here is one of the highlight of our trip which was the Capayas Island Exploration. So, here we go.
Two hours boat ride from the city point. It was where the adventure started.
We sailed even with the hot and humid weather all in the name of a good escapade. The journey was quite long but we were entertained by the inviting water and the sea creatures, not to mention our giddiness to see our destination.
Lopez Jaena is one of the peaceful provinces of Misamis Occidental, where lies the mystical and serene island called the Capayas (Papaya) Island. The island’s pristine, clear blue waters that shimmer every time it is kissed by the sun will no doubt make you stay even without a signal and much more a wifi connection.
Unlike the usual well developed islands with full amenities, this one speaks more of the most mundane. It only has cottages which are really affordable (100php rental fee) and a tree house. Also, if you don’t want to rent a cottage you could just use their tables located everywhere in the island for free.
However, being the 90’s kids we weren’t bothered with the lack of services. We still had a lot of fun. The moment we arrived, we enjoyed the view, took tons of photos after taking in the freshness of what we saw, went to the tree house, and played the famous chasing game in the water. Unfortunately we came in the wrong time since its low tide so we didn’t really fully enjoyed swimming around the area.
The place is perfect for intimate moments with friends and love ones or for times when you just want to chill out and mind the beauty of nature that is refreshing to the mind, body and soul.
