Polin week: mutual pinning.
Favourite little moment: a dance.
Posting the scene again but with some thoughts:
This is a presentation of both characters and it's a good comparison.
Colin, in the background, he can read the real intentions of Cressida like we do. Maybe, because he knows both well enough. But, it's his reaction what's really important here:
He finds an elegant way to make Cressida feel uncomfortable. He has an heroic gesture (speaks of his character) but more than anything he makes Pen feel better, because Penelope feeling sad is something that Colin can't deal very well.
So, this scene is presented to us to make us understand the dinamic between them. It's easy like Colin after that. He's being kind when she was bullied, and in the end they danced together.
Pen is happy. We're happy. Cressida lost.
Cressida does the same thing here.
But Deblin can't see what's really happening here. He's kind. And in the surface does everything right, but Pen still doesn't look happy.
And he leaves, giving us to us the impression that Cressida won this time.
And in the end is a description of his character: he's okay, but he's not the right one for Penelope. He doesn't stay. He would never be, specially because we saw the right thing to do first. The situation is familiar to us, and is easy to feel that something was missing.
It was Colin.
"She didn't need to search far"
Chaos Colin is always going to be my favourite Colin. And "I will take the girl, thank you."
Polin: 1x06/ 3x 04.
"I cannot stand by watching you make a mistake"
Deblin is not more than shadow of Colin. What it was, what it could be. Colin learns to letting go his past and he finds what he was searching all along. Like in the Odyssey, he came back for Pen. He chooses to stay. He's not a boy searching for his dreams. His a man who wants to go home.
Polin week: double date? and dancing.
Do you like to interrupt me? I hope you like it when I do it in the next episode.
Penelope feels nervous. But she knows what she's doing. She made a choice and she's going to stand by it. She wants to be free.
Her thoughts are confusing. What if she doesn't need to do this? Giving up on love. What if it's something else for her there? She can't aloud to herself to have hope.
No. She's doing the right thing for herself. And maybe, Lord Deblin can find a way to love her.
Then, the music starts and all her thoughts stopped at the same time. It's a feeling in her chest that is growing.
The dancers are following the music and she feels a little out her body. Like someone who is watching a representation of their life.
Perhaps love is like a dance.
Everything is spiraling. The lovers get close, have a kind gesture and they let go one more time.
Dancers? Lovers? It's not just the same?
What's love really? She always thought she knew it. She was so sure. Now, she can trust in herself. She feels like everything is part of a dream.
He was a dream. A dream she has to let go. She has to let 'him' go.
The contact of the skin, the simple hands touch. She wishes to be touched like that. With that kind of love that makes you burn.
What if she never finds love? What if she can't let him go? She was so stupid, thinking that she even had a chance. She wishes she had never loved him. Her love was a prison.
Maybe her mother is right. Love is only in the books. She needs to stop fantasizing with something is never going to happen.
She's afraid that her heart will become like rock and she would never be able to feel again.
This is maybe the most important night of her life.
And she wishes not to be there. She feels like a puppet . Someone is controlling her strings. She needs to start doing it for herself. Being in charge of her life. Love is not real. It never was. And even if it was...
Why it would happen? Why it would be for someone like her? She doesn't deserve to be loved. She wasn't born to be loved, only to love.
