Location Spotlight: Flagstone Island

A large island at the mouth of the Great Five Tail River, straddling the border of the ice and sky kingdoms, this island is the home of Lady Heron and the Mudwing Freebound Battalion after the war.

The island was named after Lord Flagstone, a mudwing rebel martyr of the recent past.

The island is home to the largest population of Mudwings in the western half of the continent, with over 200 adult Mudwings and growing.

The island is administered by Lady Heron and her brothers Lord Moss and Lord Cyprus, the island often serves as neutral territory for negotiations between Icewings and Skywings.

History Snapshot: Lord Flagstones rebellion of 4960 AS

Moorhens Alliance with Burn was not the lone unpopular act by a Mudwing queen in recent memory, as the authoritarian hold of Queen Cedar had taxed the the patience of the lower class for quite some time, to a point where a Mudwing noble could no longer stand to let them suffer any more. His name was Lord Flagstone.

in the year 4960 AS, Lord Flagstone and his siblings in secret built a rebellion to force Queen Cedar to abdicate the throne, or die. and while the attempt did not succeed at immediately removing Cedar from the throne, and in fact resulted in the execution of Lord Flagstone and his co-conspirators, the injuries sustained by Queen Cedar were grave and did result in her death within the next year, allowing for her more even handed sister to take the throne.

This rebellion served to show that the Mudwing faith in absolute monarchy was not as solid as a queen would like, But Flagstone laid the path that Heron would follow just 50 years later. He is spoken fondly of by older mudwings who have little love for the queens, and were old enough to have known him. Cries of "in the spirit of Lord Flagstone!" and "As with Flagstone, so with Heron!" were common sound from Herons Freebound Battalion.
