Do people besides me call this ship Lordinand? If not they should
There’s finally a tier list template with Lambert and Rodrigue on it, so, uh, I made this for my ships.
I’ve been thinking of their quaint little tea chats.
What's your take on inter-house couples in FE3H? n_n Do u have any?
Ok so I sat down to think about this and realized I actually? Don’t have that many?
It’s basically Ferdinand/Lorenz, Caspar/Ashe, and Dorothea/Ingrid (as long as we pretend like their dumb support doesn’t exist lmao). Otherwise I either don’t have ships for characters, or I like them best with people that are from their same house.
Ferdinand/Lorenz I just kind of like their supports. I think they pair well, given that they share a lot of opinions even though reasoning and their approaches might differ somewhat.
Caspar/Ashe are just generally kind of adorable, even if their supports together don’t have a whole lot of substance. But they do have the benefit of an A support + ending together and I love the idea of them being oblivious idiots about their feelings for each other as they travel around Fodlan as “Platonic” Justice Buddies.
Dorothea/Ingrid... What can I say, I got their paralogue before I ever got their supports and I thought it was cute how flustered Ingrid got around Dorothea. And I can totally see Dorothea calling Ingrid her “knight in shining armor” or some such sappy nonsense. I just wish they’d had better supports, honestly.
That Priscilla and the army ask you did made my day. Seriously, the idea of the Ferdibert baby - despite being a child of the ENEMY - bringing everyone together coz of her sweetness and being just like her mama... be still my beating heart. Anymore headcanons about little Priscilla's childhood and her doting Garreg Mach family? Particularly papa!Lorenz and mama!Ferdinand?
Hmm okay so I guess I haven’t talked about this part...
You know how Lorenz won’t immediately join you post time skip? That holds true for this AU as well.
Since Gloucester territory is right on the Empire’s border, Ferdie and Lorenz both decide that it would be safest for Priscilla to go with Ferdinand to the class reunion and stay with the monastery.
So everyone is extremely suspicious of him and Priscilla at first. I mean, he turns up with a mating mark on his neck, no mate, and a child that is so painfully obviously Hubert’s that it hurts.
Now here’s the thing, I don’t think Ferdie would tell them that he’s mated to Lorenz. The Gloucester family is in a rather precarious situation, and they don’t want to do anything that would provoke an attack by the Empire. If it got back to people that they were mated then it might be seen as the Gloucester family throwing their lot in with Dimitri, and they might suffer a preemptive strike.
Lorenz’s father doesn’t even know that Ferdinand has gone to Garreg Mach, he thinks that Lorenz sent him and Priscilla somewhere farther north in the Alliance to keep them safe.
Basically, they’re operating on a need-to-know basis, which means only a handful of people are aware that he’s married to Lorenz. He doesn’t breathe a word of it when people ask because he’s terrified there might be spies listening, so when people question him about his mate he just says “he’s not here” or “it doesn’t matter”. Most people take this to mean that he mated with Hubert, but abandoned him to rejoin the army. Some people are more okay with this than others.
Ferdie isn’t exactly the most trusted or well liked person in the army for awhile, but you can bet that everyone absolutely loves his little daughter. Dimitri, even in his feral state, still has such a soft spot for kids, so he basically tells everyone in the army to be nice to her (with an implied or else).
Not that he really needed to threaten him, because she charms everyone she meets (well, when she’s not wandering around at night scaring the shit out of people by looking like a little ghost girl). In fact, if she didn’t look so much like Hubert then people would genuinely start to question whether or not she was really his spawn.
As for another specific cute instance... One day, possibly right before the Ailell Mission everyone is sort of moping around the monastery. They’re all hungry and dreading being forced to march through that hellscape, so morale is pretty low. Priscilla sees this and decides to rope everyone into a monastery-wide game of hide-and-seek. And I mean everyone. Even Dimitri (techincally) plays. Priscilla actually wins because she begs him to let her hide under his cape, and everyone is too terrified of poking the boar to try looking there. By the end of the day everyone is laughing (until they realize that they lost Lindhardt, and they can’t find him because he fell asleep and won’t respond to their calls).
Anyways to bring Papa Lorenz back into the mix! The common belief is that Ferdie married Hubert and he just doesn’t want to admit his ties to the man any longer. Then comes the time for the Lions to take back the Bridge of Myrddin.
I don’t think Lorenz would put up much of a fight in this scenario. Basically just enough to make it seem like he’s cooperating with the Empire, but once it becomes clear that the Kingdom Army is winning he lays down his weapon.
Now that the immediate threat of the Empire invading his territory is gone he’s free to run to Ferdie and be as grossly PDA as he desires! All in all it’s a good day for the Lions. They strike a blow against the Empire, Ferdie gets Lorenz back, and Dimitri is reunited with Dedue. Win-Win-win!
Everyone is kind of in disbelief when Ferdinand comes clean and tells them that Lorenz is his mate. No one quite believes that Lorenz of all people would be willing to mate with “damaged goods” (as Omegas are so often called when they have a child but no mate), or that he would willingly raise a bastard child that wasn’t his own. They’re in denial all the way back to the monastery, until little Priscilla sees them and comes sprinting out the gate shrieking “PAPA!” at him.
Everyone is just so baffled by this eclectic little family all huddled together and happy crying because they can all be together again. Well, at least until all of the angst happens, but let’s not talk about that.
I know that Ferdinand found out he was pregnant with Magnolia while being held captive in Enbarr, but what was the reaction to discovering he was pregnant a third time? Were Priscilla and Magnolia happy or maybe a bit jealous (as some kids tend to be)? And how did this pregnancy differ from the first two for Ferdinand?
Ferdie is honestly just relieved that he gets to have a normal, calm pregnancy for once. No fleeing his homeland or getting kidnapped by his ex lover to worry about, just tea and foot rubs.
No, you know who is really excited about this shit? Lorenz. Think about it: During Ferdie’s first pregnancy they were not together, it wasn’t his kid, and Ferdie was in a pretty bad place having just escaped the Empire so it wasn’t really the time for romantic advances of any kind.
He misses out on half of the second pregnancy because Ferdie was kidnapped and taken to Enbarr for, like, the first five months of that one.
This is the first time that a) Everything is calm, b) He gets to be there the whole time, and c) They’re actually together so he can dote all he wants without it being creepy or unwelcome.
Basically, he spoils Ferdie absolutely rotten.
As for the kiddos... Maggie would probably be neutral-to-positive about a new sibling. Priscilla... It’s complicated. She’s happy, but another baby is yet another reminder that she’s not really Lorenz’s daughter.
Hey, I’ve been reading your headcanons (and your fics) for hours because they just give me life (ღ˘◡˘ღ) ♫ And I wondered about Lorenz and Ferdinand’s pre-timeskip relationship. Somewhere on this blog, you wrote about how Lorenz wanted to test Omegas in the BL house to see if they were eligible for marriage and I wondered, did he not try at some point with Ferdie ? Bc if he did, I bet he would’ve all over him^^ Not to mention that in the modern AU, Lorenz apparently loved him since high school
Thank you so much!!!
Honestly, it depends on if Ferdie joins the Blue Lions before or after Sylvain kicks Lorenz’s ass.
While Ferdie is still with the Black Eagles I don’t think Hubert would let him come within fifteen feet.
After he transfers to the Lions he might try. The entire experience goes completely over Ferdie’s head, though. He’s mostly just excited to have someone to talk about tea and nobility with and he doesn’t even consider that there could be anything courtshippy about it.
Lorenz would definitely fixate on him, tho, regardless of if he’s still “testing” for good marriageability. They just have too much in common for him not to!
Hubert does kind of seem like the jealous/possessive type to me, though. I think that Ferdinand and Lorenz’s relationship would never go beyond friendship (in any AU) while Hubert is still in the picture. Even if Lorenz would like to fall to his knees with a ring.
Drunks asks: I love the ferdibert baby AU and the inherent angst of Ferdinand being an unwed teenage mom on the run who then finds love with Lorenz and lives happily ever after. Any for info on that? You've said Ferdie ran away and that Hubert didn't know he was pregnant? How did his birth go? What were Priscilla's early years like and how did Lorenz and Ferdie fall in love and get together? Major Ferdie fan here and I love your take on him.
Birth was actually rather smooth! It was all a rather uncomplicated pregnancy in general. Other than the whole. You know. Fleeing the Empire bit. He probably flees as soon as his father is imprisoned because he’s worried about meeting the same fate. Especially if Hubert finds out that he’s carrying his baby? What a disaster.
Lorenz takes him in because it’s his duty as a noble (and the two developed quite the friendship in their academy days) and makes sure he’s taken care of throughout the whole pregnancy. Obviously they spend a lot of time together and basically end up falling in love.
Ferdie is very worried about Priscilla when she’s first born because he doesn’t want her to grow up without a father figure. So Lorenz steps the fuck up. Midnight bottle feedings, playing with her, watching her so her mama can get some sleep... Five years later they realize that they’re basically married without it being official. So just... Why not make it official? They’re both clearly in love anyways. And Priscilla loves Lorenz! She even calls him “papa” before Ferdie even prompts her to!
