The gods have to learn how to imitate humans. It's a process. They first observe from a far and take on a guess of what humans look like. It's when they get there and see humans up close that they can smooth it out and perfect the appearance.

Even then, they fall short. Apollo hasn't thought to imitate a pulse until very recently when cuddling with Aseil and feeling his heart beat. Aktal hasn't cared to figure out how to imitate breathing. So he doesn't.

Some Apollo stuff <3333

Thinkin about how despite not really fitting the mold of a traditional god with a traditional religion, with time he could try to fit that better, not for himself but for humans.

I learned in a really interesting anthropology class that there's evidence that the practice of religion was actually really fundamental to our evolution. Cause alturustic traits and teamwork is undesirable in individual organisms unless it's kin, and religion created these kin-like bonds. It's why humans seem to keep going back to it and why it's such a pervasive thing no matter where you are. These days these kin-like bonds aren't nearly as necessary since survival isn't the same, but we still heavily gravitate twords these things and environments.

If Apollo ever realized that, I think he would do what he could to make his church as fitting for humans and thier benefit as possible. Not quite cannon, just musings
