Abandonment Issues

All Michael has is his hope. He hopes for a place; “There’s gotta be something better out there for me than Roswell, New Mexico.” He hopes for someone; “I’m gonna find Nasedo. He’s my family.” He hopes for a home; “I don’t belong here, I don’t belong there, I don’t belong anywhere.” And when the alien he’s been waiting for since he was six years old finally shows up, he has no answers as to why he took so long to find him, why he let him suffer like he did, why he was alone. At Michael’s outrage, Nasedo merely responds: “Emotions are a weakness, Michael. Focus.” Michael yearned for a father, for validation, for answers, for meaning, for an explanation to all the things he had to endure at Hank’s hands. His hope shattered the moment he realized Nasedo was far from what he expected.

When did you read The Selection? January 2013 (OMG that can’t be right)

How did you find out about the book? I heard about a show the CW was creating about a book that hadn’t even been published yet (at least here - I don’t remember if had been published in the US yet)

Were you “Team Aspen” for the first half of the book? I was, I still am. Next question! 

Is it your favorite book out of the series? If so, why? The Selection, you mean? Yes, it is absolutely my favorite. First ones usually are.

Approximately how many times did you yell at America while reading The Selection? I’m still yelling at her. I have dreams yelling at her. And it all started when she thought Aspen had another girl, back when she was leaving for the castle and saw him bump into some girl.

If you could change one part of the book, what would you change? I wouldn’t change it. I actually really like the first one. I’d change the second and definitely the third book. I would also change a few bits and pieces of The Heir, but I also really like that one.
