Been looking forward to this for a while, since the amount of attention it got on social media was unusually high for this type of movie. But, tbh, it shouldn't be that surprising that it has become a crossover hit: despite the specificity of its setting, the dynamics between the characters are pretty universal and almost relatable. Add to that a thriller vibe and a bunch of masterful performances, and you get an undeniably entertaining film. Ralph Fiennes gives a career-best performance, which is saying a lot when you have a filmography like his. Also, the sets and the use of colors bring this sense of tension and claustrophobia that keeps you on the edge of your seat. So yeah, Conclave certainly deserves its hype.
