Pour Over Press with the Kalita Kantan & Aeropress
Here's what we did:
1.) Heat water between 200 - 203 degrees
2.) Set the Aeropress up in the inverted method.
3.) Grind 18g of fresh coffee at a fine setting. (We are using Coava Coffee's David Mancia, Honduras)
4.) Add 10g coffee to the Aeropress chamber.
5.) Open and prewet a Kalita Kantan dripper.
6.) Place the remaining 8g of coffee in the kantan dripper
7.) Start your timer and pour approximately 20 grams of water in the brewer for a 10 second pre-infusion.
8.) Pulse pour water for 1:30 until you reach approximately 145g of water
9.) Remove the Kantan dripper and continue pouring water into the Aeropress chamber until you reach 250g total.
10.) Place a filter into the Aeropress cap. (We use the Able Disk Fine, but you could also use a pre-wet Aeropress paper filter.)
11.) Place the cap onto the Aeropress chamber, invert the press, and slowly press out the coffee into a preheated mug or carafe.
12.) Enjoy.
