Losing something doesn't always ends badly. Well, first I lose my phone. My precious Samsung J3 2016. Some might say it is not that pricey but to me, the content in it is the most expensive. All the data, pictures and memories for three years using it is gone.
I can blame myself for that because of my failure to back up the information in it. All my phones were bought with my own money, that makes this phone is very precious to me. All the hardships collecting money to gain this phone.
Before Samsung J3, I have used Nokia (the brick and C3), Sony Xperia M and all will end up in three years due to unfortunate circumstances. This is my first to lose a phone but hey on the bright side, I got myself a new phone and I choose Oppo F7 this time and it is worth the money.
Collected money for a long time for this, but before that, I do not favour Apple product because it is not universal unlike Android and Apple products is seem more like as a show-off gadget. Like
“Hey, I have an iPhone”
“So?”
“You are all cheap for using Android.”
Said by who use up their education loan to buy an iPhone.
A tip for some of you that have trouble finding your phone. You can use Google’s app which is Find My Device. As long your google account is signed in the phone, with God’s mercy you would find it and for my case, I still can’t find it because maybe the phone is dead, or someone formatted it and sold it.
I would reward them if someone found it and give it back even if he only gives my SD card back I would reward them.

A week ago, I lost my phone while running amid a black rainstorm, Hong Kong's first (and most chaotic) of the year. Once I let the self-pity and shame subside, I seized the chance to experience living and working in a foreign country without a phone for an entire week.
+ Sensory Improvement. Prior to losing my phone, it was amazing how much I'd immerse myself into the digital world and be completely numb to the concrete world. Since nowadays there's an app for everything, I would use my phone to look up new places to dine, directions, the weather--EVERYTHING. It would never occur to me that if I really wanted to know all these things, I could just walk outside and use my five senses.
Sans téléphone, I was able to focus and tune into my surroundings. Going the conventional route suddenly seemed meditative, as I was free from the confines of technology. My routine walks to and from work became filled with new sights and sounds, as though the same settings were cast in a whole new light. My observation abilities improved, my listening felt clearer, and in due time my mentality did, too.
+Productivity levels were soaring. The irony of having a phone is how we can convince ourselves we are being very efficient, when in reality we are just looking for more ways to distract ourselves. Moreover, I tried convincing myself I could multitask by engaging in face-to-face conversation while texting away. The end result just led to a lovely combination of nodding away and selective hearing while typing unintelligible nonsense on my phone. It would never cross my mind to distance myself from my phone, even for a short trip to the bathroom. Gross!
Having no phone left me with no choice but to complete my to-do lists and to surpass my multitasking abilities. I suddenly had so much free time! It was hard to believe that much of this was attributed to losing that one petty distraction. That guilt of knowing I spent the last half hour on my phone when I could've made better use of my time, was GONE. And it felt damn GOOD.
+Doing away with the irrational sense of immediacy. Living in Hong Kong, I'm no longer shocked when I see groups out together, each person buried into his/her phone. Intentionally social, yet so isolated all at once. However, it's undeniable that I saw a bit of myself in that, too, especially at a time when phones have seemingly replaced most household objects. Using my phone as an alarm clock meant that I would get into the merciless habit of checking my e-mail, Facebook, and Instagram within thirty-seconds of opening my eyes. Throughout the day, hearing the slightest of vibrations was the trigger for me to gravitate to my phone, not unlike the force of a magnetic pull.
As I look back on my habits, I realize how much of a habit-forming addiction my phone was to me. I'm not saying phones are bad, because they're a great method of communication--especially with loved ones living so far away. However, I will say that without keeping ourselves in check, it's very easy get caught up in frivolous phone usage. In the end, the qualitative experiences in our lives--the meaningful conversations, those irreplaceable moments, the here and the now-- will forever overshadow those trivial text messages.
Eventually, I got a new phone. But will I use it to the same extent that I did before? Probably not.
I need to get one of those cheesy pocket holders that clip on your belt loop. Except I don’t wear belts. I lost my phone. It is somewhere between the living room and the art room. I had a great idea of a research tidbit to follow up on and I got all…
