Guillotine

This week’s topic is super dark. Bear with me. Guillotine or mainly known as alat pancung kepala in Malay is a device to behead people as an execution. Cigar cutter also looks like guillotine but much smaller. I learned this word through a song called Victorious by Panic! at the Disco (side note: I think this song is quite good to pump up your adrenaline. Just a suggestion!).

It is known as one of the fastest and easiest way of execution. It is also said that it was the most humane and equal way to execute people in the past. Why? Well, it is because the rich and the poor will got the same and quick way to be executed. I read in an article, in the past, the rich can choose a less torturous execution by bribing while the poor forced to accept any execution usually by hanging which will cause a slow death. With guillotine everyone will get an equal execution.

Have you ever wondered how long a decapitated head will survive? Thinking about the answer, I remembered how slaughtered cow spasm after being slaughtered. Gross? I know it is. Okay, the answer is around maybe 30 seconds, based on Dr. Beurieux’s journal dated on 28th June 1905 on his observation of an execution of a man known as Languille. I will make this simple.

After the man called Languillle was executed, his lips and eyes were moving in an irregular rhythm for about 5 to 6 seconds.

After a few moments, the spasm reduced. Then Dr. Beurieux called the guillotined man’s name with a sharp voice.

“Languille!”

The eyelids of the guillotined man responded slowly to the call, Dr. Beurieux said that the movement of the eye is like the living people being awake from their thoughts.

 Languille’s pupils fixed on the Dr. Beurieux’s.

After a few seconds, the eyelids shut again. Then, Dr. Beurieux called him again. Languille’s eyes open again and fixed itself on Dr. Beurieux.

The eyes closed again but partially. On the third call, there are no more movement of the eye and the look now is just like the look of the dead.

Things people do for science and curiosity. Some applause for Dr. Beurieux and Languille for feeding our curiosity with some answer.

I hope Languille’s execution have a good reason behind it. Not some slander or because of Dr. Beurieux’s research (too dark. nope)

Crimson Peak review (Spoiler Alert)

Okay, I just watched a movie called Crimson Peak starring Tom Hiddleston, Jessica Chastain and Mika Wasikowska. The movie genre is drama fantasy.The pure reason I watch the movie because of Hiddleston and I was bored.

The movie started with a ghastly scene of wounded Edith Cushing talking about presence of ghost. The story took place at early development of America and you can see based on their outfit.

Edith Cushing raised by her single father which was a builder. Mr. Cushing started from the bottom until he reach his peak of his career becoming on the of the respected people in his career circle.

Meanwhile for Edith is the only daughter raised well by Mr. Cushing and she is a very well mannered lady. Her personality quite different from the other girls in her era and she loves to write. Her writing skills usually are judged skeptically due to her gender which makes her journey to success in writing career is bumpy.

Another main character in the story is the Sharpe siblings. An older sister and a younger brother named Lucille and Thomas respectively. The siblings are from Europe and they carried a quite creepy vibe around them which lead to suspicion to Americans that interacted with them.

Some incidents happen to the Cushing family that lead to lady Cushing becoming lady Sharpe but the story tells us that sometimes poison does not only come from an outsider but can come from our own flesh and blood that lead to miserable life.

Even though this story do not get an excellent reviews from the people in the internet but I really suggested this movie should be in your movie bucket list.

I currently own 2 of the Veiltail type and owned a super delta type once.

Their beautiful and elegant gestures in the aquarium are the reasons why I’m interested in them. They’re a complete stress reliever! Do own one and you’ll get what I meant ^^

Ugly Babies

First of all, before any of you try to do harm to me due to the headline above, let’s take a look at what I mean.

Agree with me? Those babies are horrible. Does not look an infant at all. If you notice those paintings from Renaissance era are paintings of Jesus and Mary.

Medieval time, these paintings usually are requested by churches and biblical figures are drawn. Drawing Jesus depended on the concept of Jesus was born perfectly formed and unchanged which is the concept of homonculus or translated as “little man”.

That is why these babies are drawn like an adult instead of a little cuddly bundle of joy.

Brendon Urie

I do not usually like rock music but when I found Death of a Bachelor by Panic! at the Disco, I immediately fell in love with their art. I started liking them since late 2016 and I would never go back.

Started as a band but now only one of the members maintained which is the vocalist, Brendon Urie. Even though he could use his own name to perform but he still uses the band name. Listening to their playlist, they did a great job as a band and individually and can be proven by their success until now since 2004.

My favourites are Death of a Bachelor, Let’s Kill Tonight. Victorious, Hallelujah, Don’t Threaten Me With A Good Time, Golden Days, The Good The Bad And The Dirty, Miss Jackson, The Ballad of Mona Lisa, This is Gospel and many more.

Urie’s voice is just heavenly. He did some cover on Sinatra’s song and it was incredibly eargasm. His vocal range is also incredible and would amaze you. As what I can observe, they write their songs with the dictionary with their wide vocabulary range and beautiful phrases suit every mood of yours.

I would suggest all of you give some time to listen to them. Some of their might be too weird for you but I am sure that there would be a song that might be your favourite.

Three years curse?

Losing something doesn't always ends badly. Well, first I lose my phone. My precious Samsung J3 2016. Some might say it is not that pricey but to me, the content in it is the most expensive. All the data, pictures and memories for three years using it is gone.  

I can blame myself for that because of my failure to back up the information in it. All my phones were bought with my own money, that makes this phone is very precious to me. All the hardships collecting money to gain this phone.  

Before Samsung J3, I have used Nokia (the brick and C3), Sony Xperia M and all will end up in three years due to unfortunate circumstances. This is my first to lose a phone but hey on the bright side, I got myself a new phone and I choose Oppo F7 this time and it is worth the money.

Collected money for a long time for this, but before that, I do not favour Apple product because it is not universal unlike Android and Apple products is seem more like as a show-off gadget. Like

“Hey, I have an iPhone”

“So?”

“You are all cheap for using Android.”

Said by who use up their education loan to buy an iPhone.

           A tip for some of you that have trouble finding your phone. You can use Google’s app which is Find My Device. As long your google account is signed in the phone, with God’s mercy you would find it and for my case, I still can’t find it because maybe the phone is dead, or someone formatted it and sold it.

           I would reward them if someone found it and give it back even if he only gives my SD card back I would reward them.

Late Night Thoughts #1

Okay, I can’t sleep. Let’s talk about the title. Procrastination? The first thought came across my mind was being on a couch, being lifeless. The act procrastinating is when we know that there are piles of work coming up but we as human love to delay those jobs. Thus, results in last minute work like what I am doing right now. 

Some people did great under pressure, but some doesn’t. For me... I do not know by now, but yeah, it depends on my mood that day. If I am really stressed out, the last-minute work would not end well, but usually God sends his blessing to help me in a hectic day.

By the way the announcement of the General Election, I do not know who won since I was procrastinating in my bed at 2:00 am, 10th of May 2018 and I does not have the intention to scroll through twitter or watch the television to get the live feed.

I might say this year’s election is a bit calmer, but colourful with the presence of Azwan Ali as one of the DUN (correct me if I’m wrong) at Bukit Antarabangsa. We knew him as the diva and the goofy celebrity, but he got his degree in Law at Universiti Malaya. Guess the phrase don’t judge a book by its cover can be used here?

Some disturbance in the Setia Alam area I heard, not sure it was real or not, but there was a live feed of the incident, so I might guess it is real. At Putrajaya, I saw images of the military are armed in case of any riots might happen.

2:10 am now and I heard nothing, so I guess no bad incident happens right? My feet and fingers are freezing cold right now my eyes just can’t be shut. Night owl I am. Well everyone, I guess I have to force myself to sleep because tomorrow will be another hectic day and I need to fuel myself.

Human Soap

Soap. A cleansing or washing products. Liquified or solidified or jellified, it still have the same function; to cleanse something based on the ingredients. Traditionally, soap made from animal fats but a woman made it from human fats. Human-breast-milk soap doesn’t sound that gross anymore.

Leornarda Cianculli faced a lot of challenges that formed her from a kind neighbour to a serial killer. Based on record, her life since her young age was hard proven by her twice attempted suicide. She was cursed by her mother for her first marriage since it was marriage without approval. In 1930, the couple’s home destroyed by an earthquake at Lariano, Alta Irpinia. Then the couple settled in Correggio and become known in the neighbourhood as a very nice lady.

She had 17 pregnancies, miscarriage to 3 of them, death to 10 of them. She received a fortune from a fortune teller, saying that her marriage will be bless children but soon they will all die. She visited Gypsy to read her palm then found out another bad luck, “ In your right hand I see prison, in your left a criminal asylum.”

Due to her superstitious belief and fear of losing her child, she did some gruesome act. In order to protect her son, Giuseppe that will fought for Italy for WW2 she believe that protection needs human sacrifices. All her 3 victims were all from her neighbourhood There were saying that Cianculli herself do fortune telling.

The victims are Faustina Setti, Francesca Soavi and Virginia Cacioppo. Cianculli with all her victims made an agreement to not tell anybody about their meeting. Setti came to Cianculli for help finding a husband. She made Setti to post postcards or letters to closed ones that she was fine. On the last day of their meeting, Setti offered a drugged wine and the next part, her body was cut to nine parts. The blood collected mix into cake mix and the fats form soap.

Francesca Soavi, got help to from Cianculli to find a job. Cianculli made her write to their relatives and friends saying she was alright. Well, she met her ending just like Setti. From Setti and Soavi’s murder, Cianculli gain 30 000 lire each from the victims for her service.

Her last victim, Virginia Cacioppo. Ciaculli claimed found her a job as a secretary in Florence but it’s a different case, no writings send to her closed ones. Same method used in Cacioppo murder but Cianculli gain 50 000 lire and few jewelleries.

Suspision of sister in law of Cacioppo of her sudden lost, she tracked that Cacioppo were last seen at Cianculli place. Cianculli immediately give in after the police try to arrest her beloved son. She was sentenced to 30 years in prison and 3 years in criminal asylum which aligned with the Gypsy’s prediction. Her life ended due to cerebral apoplexy in criminal asylum in Pozzuoli in 1970.

Sometimes people with good impression do have their dark side. Watch out people.
