Early this morning (yesterday) i received an inbox of a girl (i’m not very sure, i can’t remember, so please, if you’re reading this, correct me if i’m wrong) asking to me an advice because she cannot decide what career she wanna choose, she told me she wanna do something math-ish or art-ish or being a comedian writer and if i regret for chose graphic design as a career; and i swear i answered it in my phone, but i don’t know what happened, but that post just disappeared and i spend a lot of time just looking for it to make sure i really answered it in the posts i’ve done, but can’t find it and i can’t remember who asked to me, i’m so sorry. I haven’t had the opportunity to log in in my laptop until now, and i just wanna write my answer (at least the same answer i made before this thing fucked up) And it goes like this:
First of all, you’re not annoying at all, and i’m very glad you asked to me and i really hope i can help you.
I decided i wanted to be a graphic designer for two reasons: first one, i’ve been related to arts and music, and that made things much easier to me, even though i’m not good at drawing (what i meant here, is that i wanted a career related to arts or something like that, because of my backgrounds, and where i live, graphic design was the closest option to that); second, since ever... i’ve been a curious girl, i mean, i always wanted to know how things are made (like posters, photographs, books, magazines, illustrations, etc.) and like i said before, i’m not good at drawing, but that’s not an obstacle to me, ‘cause i developed another habilities, i consider myself good at conceptualizing and rhetoric. When you’re studying you see you’re good at something, and then you practice all the time to be better, and that’s awesome, ‘cause you have passion for that thing you do and you’re good at. Sorry if i already left the issue or if i’m not aswering well to your question, but what i mean is that you have to choose something you’re passionate about, something that you’re good and even something you want to improve. You can go to workshops or exhibitions or take a course in something that catches your attention. And i don’t regret having studied design, ‘cause then i could learn things i never knew existed and now i know how to do it, and i’m capable to help people to communicate an idea, beyond words (:
I really hope i helped you and if you have a question about anything, please, feel free to ask me and i’ll be happy to help you.
Also, i added a link to my digital portfolio on behance, and if you wanna see it, you can click here, in this website you can see a lot of portfolios from people around the world, check it out if you want to :3
P.S. Sorry, my english is not that good, but i’m trying my best :’v
