This is not my usual content lol but I’m here to drop some new lost lore 14 years after the finale. Mega spoilers ahead
So I’m rewatching Lost and I caught something I’ve never seen mentioned and Lost has had a lot of people dig deep into the numbers mentioned on the show. I really tried to find mention of this.
But in this scene in S3E3 Further Instructions, in you can see “4F” written in blood on John’s neck. This comes right after he wasn’t able to shoot Eddie in his flashbacks and wasn’t able to prove himself ‘a Hunter’ at his weird little commune thing.
4F is a military distinction for someone not fit for service.
Considering it’s later revealed he’s the fourth candidate to take over for Jacob and doesn’t end up doing that…. It seems like a nod to him being tested for service to the island and failing.
I really tried to find any mention of it because it’s hard to believe I’m the first to notice, but the only other mention I’ve found of “4F” is that it’s the security booth Kate goes through in season 6 (also interesting but I digress). Considering the list of the times 4 was mentioned in the show includes things like Jack had four cuts on his face and there were four x rays on a light box, this seems like a relevant addition haha
