In memoriam
Let's have a moment of silence for lost writings.
Poems you wrote as a kid, in spiral-bound notebooks that were lost in a house move.
Half-completed novels lost when your computer's hard drive fried itself.
Stories posted to an archive whose servers are no longer supported on Web 2.0.
Drabbles posted to a bulletin board service on an Internet provider that no longer exists.
Round Robins written with a group of friends, and shared, chapter-by-chapter, through the postal mail.
Non-writers will never truly understand our grief over losing you.
But please know, spirits of our word-children, wherever you may be, that we loved you. And still love you, even if we don't remember you in perfect clarity. We would not be who we are today if you'd never been part of our lives.
Thank you.
