Background:
Youngest of four, smallest of six. She was always the black sheep of the family. Xion was born as a small infant and her growth patterns confused most, if not all, doctors. She felt out of place during her elementary years. The other students were always a few inches taller than her. She got teased about her height, and envied by her looks. Her doll like face and eyes were targets of a lot of the girls in each school she went to. Her shoes were always tied together and thrown on top of telephone wires, bag spilled all over the ground when she would leave it unattended for the bathroom or otherwise, and the notes left on her desk were the worst. Her school life left her in shambles by the end of the most normal of days. Her home life was different, but it didn’t matter to her too much. Xion felt like that the family she had never understood her, but they knew more than she would tell.
She had had enough during her fifth grade year and decided to leave what she had. She took the train that bordered the edge of her town and sat on it for hours on end. She wasn’t sure where she should get off, or where she wanted to go. She sat on the train seeing many faces and many interactions. She was jealous of these interactions and people in general. A few hours passed before she decided to get off at the point she had arrived. To her surprise, she ended up getting off where she had started. She couldn’t help but think that she was never going to escape her life here. When she exited the doors of the train she saw one of her sisters passed out on the bench. Xion shook her head and flicked her in the forehead to wake her up.
“What are you doing passed out here?” She contained her laughter at seeing the serious one of her older twins carelessly passed out at the station. Her sister surprised her when she started crying and grabbed hold of her. She couldn’t help but bury her head in her sister’s chest, trying to keep herself from crying as well. Their walk home was silent, and the house was empty when she had arrived. She didn’t know what to think when her whole family went searching for her when she didn’t come home after a day and a half. The circles under her sister’s eyes were apparent that she had been sitting at the station since she had gone off. Each time Xion tried opening her mouth, she couldn’t muster any words. She had been so silent and exclusive during school and at home, that she wasn’t able to speak in the slightest. She just sat there at the dinner table, unable to communicate as her sister started going off on how irresponsible she was and how worried everyone became. Here she was, once again being scolder by her older sister.
An hour passed, maybe two before everyone arrived home once again. Her parents sighed in relief, her brother, Akiyuki, acted as if he wasn’t worried, the serious older twin, Sayaka, tried to act like she was mad at Xion by not looking at her, and then the younger twin, Shion, came in the door. Shion surprised the whole family when she walked up to Xion with her head down, unable to look Xion in the eyes. A slap across the face, and a face full of tears. Shion seemed to be the most serious about this even though she was the sister without a care in the world. It was the only time Xion ran from home, and it was the only time she felt the most loved.
