lol oh i totally get that. my party was historically very dnd/motw focused, so the switch over the urban shadows was definitely a learning curve. that being said, totally worth it! it can be kinda rules-heavy, but the base mechanics and features are a ton of fun and have made for some cool rp/scenes. good luck w convincing your party, i'm sure yall will have a blast! your worlds and homebrew on your blog seem super cool
whoops double texting but my campaign isn't anything too special, our previous campaigns had been focused on preventing knowledge of monsters from getting out to the public, so i homebrewed the setting as more of a think piece of how society adapts and changes after the secret is revealed. it’s been fun so far, coming up on our 1 year anniversary in oct!
(answering both of these as one ask!)
i really didn't find urban shadows rules-heavy personally, because i tend to lean towards super crunchy games mechanics-wise, but that might be why my party was so resistant to the idea! congrats on the 1 year anniversary - my campaign's got a while yet before that - and i love that idea for a campaign! sounds like a lot of fun
glad to hear you like the homebrew :D
hey! hope your day has been good, stopping in to say that i stumbled across your blog the other day and saw your post talking about starting your first urban shadows campaign back in feb. love your content and just wanted to send good vibes your way from one urban shadows dm to another! hope your campaign has been kicking ass!
wow, thanks! unfortunately my party are a bit stubborn about learning new systems so we've mostly been sticking to d&d, but i'm hoping to start up again with urban shadows soon. it's such a fun system!
i'd love to hear about your campaign 👀
