i’m really enjoying reading this play :) there are some major differences from the book though

-jack HATES simon. hates him more than anyone else

-roger is NOT from the choir, samneric are

-piggy is mostly made fun of not for his size, specs, or “assma” (not ass-mar), but for his cockney accent

-piggy’s actually kinda stupid. simons the nerdy one, once called professor cambourne by jack

-simon genuinely thinks he’s from another planet

-simon canonically has fits where he hallucinates

-maurice’s last name is walsh?!??

-when simon meets roger, he asks what school he goes to. roger says “a nowhere school” and simon flirtatiously replies “i thought i’d seen you before”. jack then mocks simon for his prophetic dreams??

-ralph plays the flute!

-maurice and bill and ralph play rugby. simon doesn’t like it

-piggy goes to barnabas high, ralph goes to upton, and jack + the choir go to godstone

What's the tax system of your world?

hello hello!

i’ll focus on soilaila for this one, but each place has different economies:

how the economy in soilaila works is essentially through private business except for public services. so healers huts are public facilities, as well as are public washrooms, road maintenance, and policing / military services. everything else, however, is a private business with every person being their own vendor

people sell services in exchange for goods or in exchange for a document called a ‘lefen” (meaning ‘favour’) which is essentially a contracted promised exchange for service. so if i didn’t have money, i could go to the commoner’s courts, collect a lefen, and pay for food in a lefen, and the vendor i got food from would be able to approach me now or whenever to exchange their lefen for a service, say working the stall or cleaning their home, or picking up their kids from schoolings. there are outlined ‘not allowed’ for lefens (sexual favours, crimes, treason, etc) but other than that, it was how people avoided poverty and kept every province at a base level of wealth and sustainability

lefen’s were also bound by magic once signed (blood oaths essentially) so you couldn’t back out or say no once the task was delegated
