There isn’t much that Severus hasn’t seen in his short life. He hasn’t ever had it easy, nor has he often been shown sympathy without him second guessing it, and it has made himhard. A rough childhood followed by being bullied lead to a lack of self-confidence in this brilliant man, something he attempts to cover up with bursts of callousness whenever reminded of it. With his morals constantly challenged, Severus has to keep an air ofmystery about him to make sure controversial truths aren’t discovered. But he reminds himself that getting close to anyone in the middle of a war isn’t an intellectually-wisedecision anyways.
